Sr Software Engineer – Frontend (Chicago, IL)

What's the role?: Join HERE’s Advanced Driving Initiatives team and help shape the future of autonomous driving. We’re building a cutting-edge web application that enables automotive OEMs to define and manage where hands-free driving features can be safely activated. This is a high-impact role contributing to a Platform-as-a-Service offering used by industry leaders like Audi, BMW, and Mercedes. You’ll be part of a collaborative team developing a tightly integrated frontend experience that connects directly to backend services powering real-time vehicle decisions. This is a hybrid role based in our Chicago office, with the opportunity to work onsite two days per week. The Team You’ll work alongside a nimble, creative, and motivated group of engineers focused on delivering real-time, data-driven applications. The Role As a Senior Software Engineer, you will: • Build responsive, accessible single-page applications (SPAs) using Angular or React. • Integrate UI components with real-time streaming architectures and backend services. • Translate UX wireframes into pixel-perfect user interfaces. • Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle. • Collaborate closely with backend engineers to ensure seamless integration. • Contribute to technical design and architecture discussions. • Continuously improve delivery processes and adopt modern tools and methodologies. • Work with technologies such as Kafka, Flink, Spark, and AWS as part of backend collaboration and data streaming workflows.Who are you?: You bring: • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. • 2+ years of professional experience in software development. • 2+ years building SPAs with Angular or React. • Experience with state management libraries like NgRx or Redux. • Strong coding skills and a passion for learning. • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins). • Comfort working in cloud-based environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS). Actual compensation will be based on factors such as skills and experience. This position is also eligible for a target annual performance, which is subject to company and individual performance.
