Job Description

Want to have real relationships with your clients proactively add value to their tax situation? Tired of ridiculous hours during tax season? Not interested in sales? We’re looking for a highly skilled and detail-orientedTax CPAto join our growing team. If you’re passionate about tax planning, problem-solving, and working with dentists, this is the role for you! You’ll beresponsible tax filings, tax planning, and tax projections for a book of up to 40 clients (but no more), all of whom pay a flat monthly fee of $1000/mo to work with you. You'll also manage a team of 2 other professionals, a bookkeeper and admin, to oversee the monthly accounting and client service for that book of 40 clients. You’ll have the opportunity tohave a perfectly defined niche of clients who value what you do, make enough money to pay without complaining, and all look nearly identical on paper. That means you’ll only ever deal with one chart of accounts. One area of tax law to master. One set of narrowly defined client characteristics to absolutely master so you’re eventually the one person on the planet who knows themostabout tax and accounting for this client type. If you’re interested in “paying your dues” to maaaybe make it to partner at a big firm after a decade or more where you’ll be expected to work even MORE hours, this opportunity is definitely NOT for you. Interested? Keep reading. You’ll be working with dentists. But not just any dentists. You’ll be working with a subset of dental practice owners, all of whom have the same characteristics and profile. I run a consulting company (Dental Buyer Advocates – feel free to google it) helping dentists understand the accounting side of buying their first businesses. My clients are all W2 employees who are about to own their own business for the first time. The most common question I get as we get close to closing day is, “You can be my full-time CPA and bookkeeper – right?” You'll be handed all these referrals on a silver platter. There is no sales, and no travel in this role. And…I prequalify every client, so I only refer on to YOU the dentists who value the relationship and are good to work with. Win-win-win. These particular dentists are the perfect tax and accounting clients, too. They all are brand-new business owners without much (if any) tax and accounting baggage. They all have one business entity (sometimes a second entity when they own their building), are almost solely 1120S and 1040 clients on the tax side. They all need monthly bookkeeping and are totally trainable in their behaviors. You tell them to only have one business credit card to make monthly reconciliation easier…and that’s what you’ll get. Fromallyour clients. No cleaning up old tax messes. No awkward conversations about “my old accountant said…”. And everyone will pay a flat monthly rate, so no awkward billing questions or surprises come tax season. If you haven’t thought of it yet – beyond standard tax compliance rules and laws, one of the most appealing things about this position is that there is ZERO bureaucracy. No compliance department to check with. No one micromanaging you. No restrictions on how best to accomplish your job. What we’re looking for in you: • A CPA license is required. • 5+ years of tax preparation and tax advisory experience, preferably in public accounting or a related field. • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws. • Experience with QBO, Tax Slayer, TaxDome, Reach Reporting, and others. • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. • Ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly and effectively to clients. • Self-starter with a proactive mindset, capable of managing multiple deadlines. • Experience with tax planning and consulting, not just compliance, is highly desired. • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. What you’ll get • Competitive salary and benefits package. • Flexible work schedule with the option for remote work. • Zero sales and travel requirements • Opportunities for professional development and continued education • A supportive work culture with a focus on collaboration and growth • Guaranteed max hours during tax season of 45 hours per week If you’re a Tax CPA who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and is looking for a place to make a meaningful impact, we’d love to hear from you! Total compensation will start between $125,000-143,000/year. Base pay is salaried at $110,000/year with bonus potential to bring your total year-end compensation to between $125,000-143,000/year. Bonuses to be paid quarterly. This is a small business, so benefits offered will be limited. Ideal candidates will include Sr. Accounting Managers, Accounting Managers, and Sr. Accountants with a demonstrable entrepreneurial background. To apply, you’ll have: • At least 5 full tax seasons doing individual 1040 & 1120S returns for small business owners. • Your PTIN on a minimum of 200 tax returns right now sitting with the IRS. • Demonstrable, direct client-facing experience communicating tax concepts to laypeople. • Top 10% written and verbal communication skills. • Opinions on which tax software is best. • Opinions on the best way to structure a tax and accounting firm. • Opinions on how to lay out the perfect annual tax and accounting yearly calendar. • Zero interest in the risk associated with quitting your job and hoping you can pay for groceries. • Zero interest in marketing a tax firm and doing the sales necessary to find new clients. • *Bonus* Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate first-hand experience with the dental industry in some capacity Admin • Location: Location Flexible • Reports To: Company Owner, Brian Hanks • Position Status: W2 Full-time Employee • Basic Requirements: Reliable High-Speed Internet Connection, Computer or Laptop • Smartphone with App Download Capabilities Responsibilities • Customer facing with multiple dentists to help them achieve life-long goals. • Business and personal tax returns – mostly 1120S & 1040 • Managing staff • Writing and video content creation to help clients understand key tax concepts • Manage multiple clients simultaneously. • Take above-average notes on all calls with clients, including noting next steps and required follow-up actions.
