Job Summary:

The Senior Analyst, Technology Business Management Analytics is an individual contributor role for a systems and data savvy individual with a strong technology and financial management background who will support deployment of Apptio's Technology Business Management (TBM) solutions, a suite of in-memory cost analytics and allocation platform designed to position executives with the knowledge to manage and communicate the cost, quality, and value of IT Services.

Reporting to the Manager, TBM Analytics, the Senior Analyst will support cost model development, data integration, and system administration. In addition to supporting IT financial planning and analysis processes, the Analyst will also drive continuous improvement of data modeling and allocation methodologies while leading quality management initiatives with data owners.

The role requires the ability to maintain strong business partner relationships and foster a culture of data-driven decision making through-out the IT organization, while gaining an in-depth understanding of Apptio configurations, models, and data accessible from source systems. They will have strong bias for curiosity and problem solving with the ability to synthesize an array of inputs into coherent solution strategies.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Establish strong relationships with IT and Business leaders to promote open dialogue regarding performance and ensure management has the analytics and insights necessary to understand the Total Cost of Ownership of IT services, changes in those services and opportunities to leverage TBM practices to optimize decision making.
  • Effectively communicating operational insights to management, which includes preparing project updates for to ensure timely identification and understanding of critical issues impacting the TBM system.
  • Fully understand the cost allocation logic and methodology to be able to implement model enhancement per improved data, and trouble-shoot model fallout due to invalid data or logic conflict that is associated with evolved situation
  • Be able to conduct the full cycle of model production release independently
  • Prepare data for model consumption, including data mining and cleaning, data automation and validation
  • Support documentation of functional and business requirements and rapidly translate that information into a working set of operational and financial models, dashboards, and reports.
  • Import, transform, and rationalize data from financial systems of records, business data lakes and IT Systems. These include current and future state ERP systems (Lawson, Workday ERP and HCM), ServiceNow, Azure, AWS, SolarWinds, Nutanix, VMware, AppDynamics, and various Microsoft provisioning and monitoring systems.
  • Conduct regular data quality reviews with stakeholders to ensure alignment with TBM strategy and the Standard's IT Service Portfolio.
  • Leverage platform capabilities to educate IT leaders and increase Business awareness and understanding of IT performance from a value perspective. This includes development of productivity metrics to support adoption of IT4IT Reference Architecture.
  • Develop dashboards and insights that link management reporting and metrics to roadmaps for Digital and Agile Transformation.
  • Operationalize loading, validating, and reviewing of IT and Finance data on a timely basis.


Job Specifications: (Include education, experience, special skills and licenses or certifications required)

1, Education: Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Accounting Information Systems, Finance or Business Analytics. An advanced degree in a quantitative field is preferred.

2. Experience: 7 years progressive Finance, Accounting Information Systems, BI or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience. Experience at a top-tier consulting, financial services or a technology-driven company is preferred. Prior experience with Technology Business Management (TBM) or CIO advisory work. Prior experience in a rapidly changing environment and comfortable initiating and implementing change.

3, Knowledge & Skills: Requires highly developed problem solving and analytical abilities to frame problems, analyze solutions, and build detailed project plans to size strategic alternatives for TBM system configuration and deliver appropriate recommendations. Ability to work efficiently and effectively with staff across a collaborative organization. Knowledge of IT Services and financial management practices such as budgeting, cost allocations, capital and operating expense handling, and product or capability-driven funding models. Understanding of IT infrastructure domains and application development from prior experience is essential.

Advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, data-warehouse analysis (SQL Server, SS Management Studio, TOAD), VBA Macros, JavaScript, Python, PowerPoint and Power BI. Advanced proficiency with Apptio and ServiceNow is preferred.

Strong project ownership and organizational skills - self-directed and capable of managing collaboratively without formal authority to achieve results through others; express ideas clearly and persuasively in oral, written, and presentation forms. Strong ability to influence.

4. Professional certification preferred: Elite or Recognized Technology Business Management Analyst (ETBMA or RTBMA), MCSE in Data Management & Analytics, ITIL or IT4IT a plus.

The Standard's package also includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and paid time off.

Salary Range:
$81,900.00 - $129,100.00
