We seek a strong Senior UX designer to take on the role of crafting the real estate investment management user experience. This industry is ripe for innovation and AppFolio Investment Manager is leading the way. The ideal candidate will thrive in a highly collaborative environment, applying Agile and Lean UX techniques on cross-functional product development teams to build an innovative product for our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Obsessively learn the product, our users, and their needs in order to able to craft the future of real estate investment management software
- Facilitate user research, in collaboration with the team, to validate prototypes and conduct ongoing usability testing of the working software
- Continuously analyze and share customer data and insights with the team to determine usability and inform experimental changes to the product experience
- Supporting the team with wireframes, flow diagrams, rapid prototypes and mock-ups to efficiently communicate and validate design ideas
- Meet complex design challenges by leading and/or participating alongside engineering, QA, and product in brainstorming exercises, impromptu discussions, pairing, and Lean UX-inspired activities such as design studios and story-mapping
- Navigating the constraints of complexity - meeting external and internal compliance needs to create an exceptional experience within those constraints
- Inspire teams beyond good usability to user delight with beautiful, cutting-edge visual design
- Actively participate in the evolving overall UX team strategy, discovering and piloting new tools and resources that promote agile and lean methodologies
- Interact with colleagues in a way that supports our team values of HEART -- Humor, Effectiveness, Autonomy, Respect, Trust
Knowledge and Skills
- A strong portfolio of software design that demonstrates your creativity and design skillset, B2B software product experience is desired but not required
- Advanced proficiency with design and prototyping tools, preferably Figma
- Experience with financial and/or accounting applications is preferred, but not required
- A strong knowledge of user research, usability testing, wireframing, prototyping, and UI design tools
- Knowledge of Agile UX and Lean UX methodologies and experience working in a highly collaborative, agile environment with a team of software engineers is a huge plus
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with a variety of UX deliverables (wireframes, user flows, mockups, prototypes, etc.), paired with a keen sense of when to choose the right tool(s) to communicate the design
- Curiosity for our customers and their business combined with a genuine love for products, people, and the user experience
- Practical understanding of HTML/CSS, with direct experience optimizing design concepts around these technologies
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a UI, UX, or Product Designer, preferably in the real estate or financial areas
Compensation & Benefits
The base salary/hourly wage that we reasonably expect to pay for this role is: $120,000-$165,000
The actual base salary/hourly wage for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s skills, education, experience, etc.Â
Please note that base pay is one important aspect of a compelling Total Rewards package. The base pay range indicated here does not include any additional benefits or bonuses/commissions that you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
