JOB DESCRIPTION 

As a Sr Data Architect, you will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and aligning data strategy to meet organizational goals. This will include the design, modeling, implementation and ongoing support of centralized data lakes/data warehouses. 

You'll partner and collaborate with Product Owners, Enterprise Architecture, Development and Database Engineers to design and implement our next generation of data products. 

You will design, develop data models (conceptual, logical and physical), implement scalable data architecture that supports the organization's data needs. You should have deep expertise in real-time and batch data processing at large scale and have a good understanding of data and how it relates to architecture (Data ingestion, Realtime, SQL, Analytics). Core Requirements and Responsibilities:

Essential job functions included but are not limited to the following: 

  • Expertise in data platforms and technologies, including data lakes, data warehouses, data marts and operational data stores. 

  • Design and guide practices for data models, data flows, and integration patterns for the data lake, data warehouse, and consumption data layer. 

  • Define data requirements, translate business requirements into data models. 

  • Extensive experience in the area of enterprise data architecture, including data modelling, data processing, data management and governance, and data analytics. 

  • Define data flows, i.e., which parts of the organization generate data, which require data to function, how data flows are managed, and how data changes in transition. 

  • Design and maintain the enterprise data model, data dictionaries, and data flow diagrams, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and reusability. 

  • Develops and maintains current data flow diagrams and ensures a consistent approach to data collection, consumption and that data dictionaries are up to date. 

  • Hands-on 3NF data modeling experience, preferably in Oracle and SQL Server. 

  • Proficiency at understanding enterprise data architecture concepts, data modeling and schema design techniques. 

  • Maintain a data dictionary consisting of table and column definitions. 

  • Review data models with both technical and business audiences. 

  • Collaborate with Product and Development team to implement data strategies, build data flows and develop conceptual data models. 

  • Understand the business priorities and requirements; architect/develop solutions to meet the business need and lead execution. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 10+ years in data architecture, designing and implementing Data Lake and Data Warehouse, Master Data Management, Dashboards and Reporting systems with a bachelor's degree in computer science (or related field). 

  • 8+ years' experience in implementing enterprise data warehouse/data lake and should have a deep level of understanding on technical architecture concepts infrastructure component and ELT process. 

  • 6 or more years of data modeling and design experience with analytical and transactional data in AWS and On-premises environments 

  • Experience creating source-to-target mappings for both batch and real time data experience with Lambda architectures. 

  • Extensive experience with Enterprise Data Management Technologies, including but not limited to: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL 

  • Proficient with Enterprise Data Modeling tools (Erwin Data Modeler, ER/Studio)

  • Extensive Data Warehouse experience 

  • Extensive Data Modeling experience 

  • Strong SQL scripting abilities and understanding of complex stored procedures, views, data aggregation/manipulation through table joins/queries, database design, normalization, and de-normalization techniques. 

  • Fluency with one or more of the following programming languages: Python, Java and exposure to Machine Learning methodologies desired. 

  • Knowledge of SQL, data warehousing and data management concepts. 

  • Extensive knowledge with industry standard ETL/ELT and data orchestration tools. 

  • Demonstrated detailed knowledge of BI areas including ETL and ELT design, analytics and reporting, warehouse staging, data lake creation. 

  • Nice to have experience with multi-tenant systems. 

  • Demonstrated desire and ability to learn technologies quickly. 

  • Deep understanding of different software stacks including OS, DB technologies run on the clouds and ability to interpret benchmark results to applications performance tuning. 

  • Contributes to a positive team environment. 

  • Enjoys finding and implementing solutions to new challenges. 

  • Excellent multitasking skills and task management strategies. 

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with experience in writing white papers, interacting with customers, partners and presenting solutions to a wide range of end-users. 

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future. 


Additional Requirements and Details:

 
  • Travel required up to 10% of the time. 

  • Ability to work remote with a stable internet connection on an as needed basis 

  • Located and working from an office location (when required). 

  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.

  • Frequent repetitive hand and arm movements required to operate a computer.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (working on a computer, etc.). 

  • Frequent sitting and/or standing.
