JOB DESCRIPTION
As a SQL Server Senior Database Developer, you will design and implement highly performant systems in a large-scale SQL Server production environment. Our SQL developers are responsible for optimizing our customers' databases for AMS360 at Vertafore. You will work with a fast-paced, skilled team of engineers and developers across a large high-profile product. Core Requirements and Responsibilities:
Essential job functions included but are not limited to the following:
Primary Skill - SQL Server DBA: Secondary Skill - PostgreSQL, MongoDB DBA• Specializes in Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Database, application development, and Production support• Expertise in creating SQL databases, writing optimized queries, Stored procedures, Table indexing, and Performance tuning• Experience in production support and ability to support after-hours on-call for critical issues• Work with business users for production issues and provide system solutions• Enhance existing Queries, Stored Procedures and Views• The SQL Developer is responsible for designing, creating, maintaining, and supporting SQL and reporting applications• Working with senior application development staff, assist with the design and development of complex SQL queries and stored procedures• Support web application development, focusing on helping the team interact with the database as efficiently and productively as possible.• Proactively monitor and tune the databases for maximum performance.• Troubleshoot and solve database and application coding problems• Identify ways to improve data platform, solutions to complex problems; effectively propose paths forward to drive outcomes.• Hands-on end-to-end Database Development encompassing Database Design and Development working with cross-functional teams.• Understand the business priorities and requirements; architect/develop solutions to meet the business need and lead execution.• Work as an individual contributor and collaborate with multiple teams/vendors/consultants in an effective manner.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • 4+ years of expert knowledge and experience inT-SQL development and other DB type (Oracle, MongoDB, PostgreSQL)• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, migration issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.• Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tool• MS SQL Server, Integration Services (SSIS) experience required.• Strong T-SQL scripting abilities and understanding of complex stored procedures, views, data aggregation/manipulation through table joins/queries, database design, normalization and de-normalization techniques.• Knowledge of SQL, data warehousing and data management concepts.• Familiarity with standard tools and platforms that enable continuous delivery such as GitLab, Kubernetes and ServiceNow.• Nice to have experience with multi-tenant systems• Demonstrated desire and ability to learn technologies quickly• Possesses good oral and written communication skills.• Effectively multi-tasks and adapts to change.• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.• Understands the software development life cycle process and Agile methodologies• Strong performance tuning skills in a very large database environment• Ability to run trace reports and analyze results, then recommend options for problem resolution• Proficient with Transact-SQL (T-SQL)• Expertise in running very large clusters• Contributes to a positive team environment.• Proactively asks questions and learns about our products.
Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or similar field or related work experience.
• 6 or more years of expert knowledge and experience in SQL Server administration, performance optimization, T-SQL development and other DB type (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Oracle)
• 6+ Years Prior Database Administration Experience Preferred
• 3+ years of AWS cloud experience preferred
• 2+ years of DevOps experience preferred
• Automation experience using languages like PowerShell and Python and automation tools like Jenkins, git
• Demonstrated ability to implement automated process to improve database system reliability
• Participate in On Call rotation schedule as part of 24x7 service requirement

• Travel required up to 10% of the time.
• Ability to work remote with a stable internet connection on an as needed basis
• Located and working from an office location (when required)
• Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds
• Frequent repetitive hand and arm movements required to operate a computer
