As our Sr. Email & SMS Developer, you will...

Be Accountable and Responsible

You will be the subject matter expert for the development and execution of B2C Email, Mobile, and Push marketing strategies and campaigns for our clients’ Marketing teams.  

The Senior Developer has experience creating personalized, dynamic messages and landing pages, writing scripting languages, and is experienced with data configuration, manipulation, and segmentation, as well as reporting and analytics. The Senior Developer is also client-facing, and is experienced with project management, is comfortable leading client calls and setting project timelines and expectations, and is able to be the main point of contact and knowledge expert for our clients.

  • Ability to project, and manage multiple campaigns, projects, clients, and teammates simultaneously.
  • Participate in or lead client meetings.
  • Speak as the Subject Matter Expert on relevant client calls.
  • Lead and coordinate in onboarding additional resources or partners on third-party tools as necessary.
  • Work with the Client Service and Business Development teams as an SME on additional platform capabilities to benefit our clients.
  • Understand Client Call Expectations/Processes.
  • Manage email and SMS execution across assigned larger, more complex clients.
  • Coordinate and oversee email and SMS execution tasks to ensure work is completed on time, to standard, and without error.
  • Create dynamic, personalized marketing assets using various scripting languages like HTML, CSS etc.
  • Automate email execution processes, activities, and reporting.
  • Design emails and creative templates utilizing Photoshop or similar design applications.
  • Design, develop, test, document, and deploy high quality business solutions in Salesforce.
  • Provide ongoing technical support.
  • Train other development resources on development best practices, as needed. 
  • Experience with platform-specific coding languages.
  • Write SQL for use in queries.
  • Advise on the implementation of tracking code.
  • Pull, load, create and manipulate subscriber lists and counts within the email platform.
  • Create email campaigns in the email platform.
  • QA/QC test and seed list send for email and SMS.
  • Troubleshoot email and SMS issues (platforms, HTML, rendering).
  • Troubleshoot and respond to ESP issues, list questions, and conduct advanced ad hoc analysis.
  • Assist Email Strategists on email playbook as it pertains to the capabilities and functionality within the ESP.
  • Advise on the implementation of tracking code.
  • Troubleshoot email and SMS issues (platforms, HTML, rendering).
  • Work with customer and platform data.
  • Work with pre-existing HTML templates and provide design and image editing.
  • Test emails for compatibility across all email providers on multiple digital platforms.
  • Develop email campaigns, including (but not limited to) trigger-based, responsive design and re-contact email campaigns.
  • Ensure our client's email files are properly maintained: Opt-In, Opt-Out updates, ECOA, etc.
  • Ensure all client emails comply with current CAN-SPAM and other email legislation.
  • Ability to develop and deploy multiple email campaigns per day.

These are the qualifications we’re looking for

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field such as  Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc.
  • 4+ years in email marketing
  • 3+ years in HTML coding
  • 2+ years within ESP coding language(s), SQL, advanced email automation
  • 2+ years experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud is mandatory as this will be the ESP you work in the majority of the time
    • 2+ years experience with AMPscript, Email Studio, Data Extensions, Journey Builder, and Automation Studio (or competitive ESP)
  • Proficiency with writing SQL queries.
  • 3+ years client-facing, customer service experience.
  • Experience building, deploying, and testing responsive email and push notifications marketing campaigns.
  • Ability to interpret performance data and insights to make iterative optimizations to campaigns and tactics.
  • Solid technical skills and expertise with HTML and CSS optimized for email deployment with an understanding of the difference between coding for the web and coding for email.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce Sales Cloud / Service Cloud is a plus.
  • Experience coaching junior developers and training non-technical partners in SFMC.
  • Hustle and willingness to learn: you speak your mind and welcome feedback to ensure your team’s output is the best it can be.
  • Required knowledge of email metrics reporting from ESPs and Google tags
  • English language fluency.
  • Software development experience is a plus.
  • Salesforce Email Marketing Specialist certification (preferred).
  • Strong experience with Adobe PhotoShop, Dreamweaver, and animated gifs/flash.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (specifically Google Sheets, Google Docs and Google Slides).
  • Ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Experience with complex data structures, data modeling and databases.
  • Experience with any marketing automations tools/platforms.
  • General understanding of key digital marketing trends.
  • Ability to work some after-hours and/or weekend support required, especially from October through December

Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000

Salary differential is based on seniority, merit, education, training and experience. MERGE’s career ladders reflect department growth from Associate through Partner levels, with details of roles and responsibilities associated with each level. New hires are assigned a job level within a particular position based on these criteria and salary is set within the job level based on these criteria. Growth from one level to the next occurs when employees master their role, and are promoted into the next level, generally during salary review cycles which are posted in the employee handbook.
