The Sr. Manager, Program Operations owns and develops critical strategic and short to medium-term operational goals including schedule (takt time plans), SWIP, production readiness and logistics. Will partner closely with Site Operations Managers across A220 Program to support implementation, improvement, and robustness of the ASG Operating Systems and the overall alignment on the manufacturing operations future state vision. Additionally, will ensure that functional and manufacturing areas are executing on strategies to meet cost, quality, and schedule requirements while focusing on profitability, improved ROI and sustained growth. The Sr. Operations Manager will also have the unique opportunity to be the operations point of contact for external customers; this includes leading critical program industrial reviews, delivery assurance assessments, supporting customer-facing communications, and coordinating program and on-site meetings with cross-functional teams. The candidate will also be heavily involved on the A220 Operations Digital journey and take ownership of the cost reduction and capital investment process. The candidate may also need to support or lead production activities. These include (but are not limited to) direct engagement with teams responsible of assembly sites (Mirabel and Foley) MRP planning and management, build process benchmarking, creation of current and future state value stream maps, identify, document, and assess capacity actions as well as operational risks, work in collaboration with operations and site to develop, track and close mitigation actions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop forecast rate requirements to support the program and business plans.
- Drive production readiness (technology, manufacturing readiness, sourcing strategies, etc.) and change management (transitions, capacity, etc.).
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying and implementing Continuous Improvement methodology which will drive implementation of future state Operations strategy to optimize Business capability
- Lead Overhead improvement activities and read-across initiatives within the program.
- Track and measure part level delivery performance of critical components and lead initiatives to meet industrial requirements including delivery, quality & inventory.
- Manage production readiness assessments by Identify risks to supplier production ramp, build mitigation plans, and drive actions to closure
- Monitor daily/weekly/monthly team WIP (work in process) vs. SWIP (standard work in process)
- Implement improvement initiatives with the Operations leads and program
- Promote Lean activities as a form of daily shop floor management system
- Demonstrated success in factory operations and experience with application of the Operating Systems
- Integrate both tactical and strategic activities to manage risk and leverage spend
- Manage the resource strategy ensuring that the site floor has the necessary manpower, competence, skill and knowledge required to meet production targets
- Support objectives for operating budgets, capital plans, and cost savings targets.
- Standardizes best practices across operational sites and read across.
- Map capital planning data flows from source databases through modeling processes and into capital planning templates
- Travel approximately 50%, depending on projects and business needs
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR
- Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years' experience OR
- In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required
- Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident "Green Card" holder
- Microsoft Office applications experience
- Customer facing experience, including, but not limited to, establishing customer relationships, and presenting to internal & external leadership
- Lean manufacturing experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Aerospace engineering or other similar engineering degree
- Experience increasing Value Stream Producibility
- Production shop floor management experience, including the establishment and performance management of takt times
- Experience working with direct labor employees
- Kaizen Event leader
