Job Summary
The Senior Product Scientist is responsible for supporting the company’s research needs and to help carry out the product development process for both new product initiatives and portfolio maintenance efforts that accelerate O Positiv’s growth. You will be part of the creation of OP’s rapidly growing product line and new offerings in women’s health, wellness and more.
The ideal candidate is an individual with a strong scientific research background, a high level of organization among competing priorities, and a natural curiosity with a willingness to learn. The Senior Product Scientist will report to the Director of Product Development and will work with the product team to support research initiatives and provide backing to the innovation and execution of O Positiv’s product roadmap.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Conduct science-based analysis, evaluation, and technical review for emerging ingredients to drive product formulations and reformulation efforts.
- Perform in-depth scientific and technical investigations, including drafting literature reviews centered on assessing current research and analyzing and interpreting scientific data on efficacy and safety.
- Responsible for drafting substantiations and facilitating the evaluation processes for claims and safety compliance.
- Support the management of projects in development and ensuring timeline and deadline are met.
- Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and support the implementation of new processes related to documentation, including maintaining product development document control for all raw materials, substantiation, finished product specifications, etc.
- Interpret and communicate complex scientific concepts to provide the scientific foundation for product education and creative assets.
- Coordinate the evaluation of raw materials, product development samples, laboratory submissions.
- Stay up to date to new trends in ingredients (vitamins, minerals, herbs, etc.) relevant to OP’s product roadmap and concept designs.Â
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Science (e.g. Biochemistry, Nutrition, Chemical Engineering, etc.), Food Science, Pharmaceutical Science or related field
- 2-4 years of experience working in product development, R&D, and/or regulatory affairs within the functional foods, supplements, or skincare industry
- Exceptional expertise in technical research including ingredient pathology, project management, and vendor relationship management
- Interpersonal:

Hours and Compensation
The anticipated base compensation range for this role will be $80,000 - $110,000. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and local market rates.
