This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Project Manager for our Atlanta, Georgia office. This individual will lead transportation planning projects and tasks, mentor staff, build and maintain client relationships, and participate in business development and strategies to meet the goals of the Atlanta planning group. Candidates should demonstrate experience in Georgia or a comparable transportation markets, leading and delivering work tasks for transportation projects and studies including data collection, research, and documentation contributing to the development of statewide, regional, and local transportation plans, corridor plans, transit plans and studies, multi-modal feasibility studies, managed lanes studies, planning reports, policy documentation and research, and other analyses. Responsibilities include management of project financials, project team leadership, and delivery of transportation projects and tasks, and interaction and collaboration with the Georgia Planning and Environment team, the Georgia Office leadership team, governmental agencies, contractors, the public and other WSP personnel. The successful candidate must be a team player and a self-starter, demonstrate strong analytical, communication, collaboration, technical, supervisory and business skills.

Your Impact
  • Defining problem statements; collaborating with SMEs to design an approach to problem solving; and delivering solutions for clients substantiated by technical analysis, planning judgement, and stakeholder coordination
  • Provide oversight with data collection efforts for identifying and compiling observational, spatial, and environmental data concerning a variety of matrices for projects, research, and surveys
  • Develop strong working relationships with clients, potential clients, and partner firms to support business development activities
  • Manage projects and tasks, including staffing, financials, and quality reviews
  • Lead in the development and execution of stakeholder and public involvement activities associated with planning projects.
  • Mentor junior staff
  • Prepare, complete, and/or review general plans, specific/master plans, community plans, zoning codes, comprehensive plans, permitting policies and/or development standards for assigned projects, with a particular emphasis on transportation and multimodal accommodation. Ensure technical reports and presentations explain research, findings, and recommendations to plan, address, prevent, control, or restore larger-scale planning challenges and complex problems
  • Perform professional transportation planning work and conduct investigations, inspections, studies, and surveys to gain further information on a particular problem or issue, verify site characteristics, and/or to plan for future needs affecting equitable development, construction, transportation demand management, mobility planning, and multimodal access
  • Read, interpret, compose, and review Planning Reports, Categorical Exclusions, EAs, EISs, and other technical documents
  • Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams in executing project work, approval or permitting strategy, impact assessments, and regulatory strategy
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Highly developed project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work as part of a team, work cross-functionally and think critically and strategically
  • Familiarity with Georgia transportation planning issues
  • Familiarity with Georgia Department of Transportation planning and environmental procedures
  • Ability to effectively present and communicate ideas orally and in written form
  • Strong ability to collaborate with individuals and teams
  • Computer skills (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GIS)
  • Ability to gather and analyze data critically and develop supporting information and reports
  • Proficiency with technical business writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools
  • Extensive critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, and identify the most effective solutions to accomplish objectives of assigned projects
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, Engineering or a related discipline
  • 12+ years of experience
  • AICP certification
