Position Summary:
Wonderschool is harnessing the power of technology to provide comprehensive support to childcare providers operating out of their homes as well as in the government and non-profit sectors. Our products enable childcare providers to create high-quality environments and meet the demands of their business, while also helping parents in need of childcare solutions through the creation of an accessible marketplace.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our team. In this pivotal role, you’ll spearhead our software development initiatives, working with a talented team to create innovative solutions. Your expertise in delivery of high-quality software will be essential in driving the development of our cutting-edge applications.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and key stakeholders to define project requirements, scope, and timelines, to provide technical insights, and deliver innovative solutions.
- Develop robust, scalable, and maintainable software solutions using TypeScript/Javascript.
- Utilize ORMs like TypeORM to streamline database interactions and improve efficiency.
- Develop and maintain the codebase, ensuring adherence to coding standards, best practices, and documentation.
- Implement and optimize databases using PostgreSQL and Firebase, ensuring data integrity and efficient performance.
- Integrate internal applications and services, ensuring smooth communication and data flow.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, evaluating their potential application within the organization.
- Drive Agile development methodologies, facilitate Scrum ceremonies, and ensure the team follows Agile principles.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, working closely with teams to identify and implement effective solutions.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on TypeScript/Javascript.
- Proven experience integrating internal applications and services.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding and practical application of Agile development methodologies. Experience as a ScrumMaster is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
- Detail-oriented mindset, with a focus on delivering high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code.
- Frontend experience:
- TypeScript: ReactJS, ViteJS, SSR (NextJS or Remix)
- Backend experience:
- TypeScript: Node.js, Express, (Bonus: NestJS)
- TypeORM or other ORM
- GraphQL APIs and REST APIs
- RDBMS (Postgres/MySQL), NoSQL databases (Firestore).
- Deep understanding of relational databases, with a focus on database design and optimization.
- Experience with CI pipelines, and an appreciation for TDD.
- Bonus: Experience creating Docker images, deploying & managing containers via Kubernetes in a cloud environment like Google Cloud Platform and/or AWS and an overall understanding of serverless computing.
What We Offer:
Wonderschool provides the wage ranges it reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for all remote roles and as otherwise required by applicable law. The expected range of starting pay for this role is $160K-$180K annually. Actual compensation may vary within the listed range based on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, experience, and specific geographic location.
