Summary:

The Smart Home Ecosystem team within the Vivint Innovation Center is looking for a Software Engineer to help develop and grow one of the largest smart home/IoT platforms in the world. We are looking to grow our team of exceptional engineers with more of the best talent we can find. You will be a central part of a cross-functional delivery team focused on building customer experiences around access to the home, comfort in the home and ease of use of the system including a rules engine, AI engine, thermostats, garage doors, door locks, voice integrations and more. You will work closely with product management, program management, QA, UX designers and others. The position resides within the Smart Home Ecosystem business unit. Primary Responsibilities:

• Contribute to new feature development and maintenance of backend code•
• Collaborate closely with software engineers representing other disciplines like mobile application and embedded software development to build amazing experiences from top to bottom.
• Work in a fast-paced, self-directed, agile environment
• Contribute to a platform that handles a lot of IoT data (over a billion real-time messages a day) from sensors, smart devices, cameras, and other user interactions.
• Participate in a quarterly "Innovation Week" and work on innovative projects of your choice
• Put smart home products in your own home and experience your work product firsthand

Required Experience, Skills & Education:

• Experience with well-known design patterns
• Experience with queueing, caching, persistence, performance, and concurrency techniques
• Experience contributing to scalable, high-availability, low-latency, distributed solutions
• Experience building RESTful services
• Experience with any of the following is a plus: Python, Go, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, Redis, AWS, Security and data privacy, Microservices, and Video
• 5+ years relevant work experience
• B.S. in Computer Science or additional equivalent work experience.

Preferred Experience (but you can learn them on the job):

• Agile development processes (Scrum/Scrumban)
• Driving backend architectural changes within an organization
• IoT products and services (Security, home automation)
• Mobile development frameworks and tools (Android, iOS)

WORKING CONDITIONS:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
