Sr. Systems Engineer

GAMA-1 seeks an experienced remote Sr. Systems Engineer to support the NESDIS Integrated Information Services-II (NIIS-II) contract. In this role, the successful candidate will be instrumental in driving GAMA-1's efforts to support cloud initiatives for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) with a focus on architecting and provisioning enterprise-level Cloud services, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS). The Sr. Systems Engineer will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting daily remote access technologies. 

Responsibilities:

• Work with a variety of vendors to provide secure remote access to NOAA systems. 
• Manage 60+ applications published through the VHS (Virtual Hosted Services) environment, including specialized applications. 
• Have knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, TCP/IP, NFS, VMware and related enterprise management systems.
• Interact with other technical teams as needed (Datacom, Firewall, Storage, etc.).
• Participate in change control procedures.
• Develop Proof of Concepts (POC) for initiatives/projects as requested.
• Develop test structures.
• Help in organization and management of the business applications.
• Improving and adjusting the Virtual Desktop system.
• Design and implement platform security.
• Upgrade and update the system’s applications, installing it with up-to-date descriptions.
• Strengthen the apps, the Windows server, and the principal operating system.
• Providing technical assistance to vendors.
• Analyzing business operations and the business's computer systems and determining which software applications could improve efficiency.
• Create and oversee protocols and procedures for the use of new software applications.
• Creating, executing, and maintaining databases.
• Maintaining up-to-knowledge of the latest software developments.

Education and Experience:

• 15 + years supporting information technology projects/teams
• 8 + years of progressive experience within information technology
• A Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, engineering, network engineering etc.
• Experience in large-scale enterprise IT environments 
• The ability to obtain a security clearance
