Staff Accountant

Staff Accountant Are you looking to begin a rewarding career in Finance and Accounting? We are seeking a qualified, detail-oriented, highly organized individual with strong computer and communication skills. Ideal candidates will have experience as a construction or cost accountant, with analytical skills, servant attitude with advanced computer skills. Reports directly to the Assistant Controller. Essential Job Functions • This is a list of the most prominent duties and responsibilities. • Support internal and external users of construction accounting data by providing timely and accurate information and reports. • Actively foster and maintain communication between accounting and operations • Support the month-end close process • Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against established targets • Balance Sheet Reconciliations and variance analysis • Contribute to the development and review of annual operating budgets, forecasts and performance projections • Prepare and present auditors with information and financial reports during an annual audit • Additional duties and ad hoc reporting as assigned by management Education & Experience REQUIRED • A Bachelor's degree in accounting plus one year of related experience or 4-5 years of relevant professional experience is acceptable for consideration • Must have basic accounting principles knowledge (i.e. journal entries, debits, credits, etc.) as applicable to GAAP requirements and accounting functions • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy, including experience in Microsoft Excel or Google sheets. • Good written, verbal, and organizational skills • Customer service mentality with a willingness to serve • Capable of working well with others both on the team and cross-functionally to achieve individual, team or organizational goals. • Uses critical thinking to evaluate, gather information, understand causes and identify best practices and solutions. • Ability to prioritize, adapt and respond effectively in a dynamic work environment • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently • Displays flexibility and adopts a continuous growth mindset PREFERRED • Experience working in the construction industry or job cost accounting is preferred • Experience with COINS is a plus but not required Benefits • Medical, Dental, and Prescription Drug Insurance (100% of the premium covered by Miller Electric...yep, seriously) • 401k retirement and matching • Life Insurance • Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance • Short & Long-Term Disability Insurance • Flexible Spending Accounts • Paid Vacation & Holidays • Tuition Reimbursement Program • Wellness Program Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship.
