STAFF ACCOUNTANT

The Staff Accountant position is responsible for the oversight of some specific general ledger departments and supports the hotel controller. The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Director of Finance and plays a key role in supporting all hotel accounting functions, including accounts payable, general cashiering, income audit, and financial reporting. Responsibilities: • Prepare and post journal entries and monthly accruals • Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts • Assist with month-end closing and financial reporting • Review and process accounts payable and receivable transactions • Handle inquiries from guests, clients, vendors, and external auditors • Maintain supporting documentation for all financial activity • Collaborate with operational teams on financial procedures and controls • Support audits and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures • Ensure house banks are properly documented, approved, and maintained. • Perform accounts payable functions, including processing invoices and reconciling vendor statements. • Manage general cashier duties: issue, audit, and maintain hotel banks, prepare bank deposits, due backs, and petty cash, and resolve cash discrepancies. • Ensure house banks are properly documented, approved, and maintained. • Support income audit, payroll functions, and assist with inventory spot checks. • Contribute to monthly journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and analytical reviews of significant account balances. • Collaborate on special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance Hyatt associates work in an environment that demands exceptional performance yet reaps great rewards. All qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status Qualifications • 1-2 years of accounting experience, hotel or public accounting preferred. • Strong knowledge of general ledger, accounts payable, and cashiering processes. • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word); experience with financial ERP systems (Oracle preferred). • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. • Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred but not required.
