Staff Accountant

Sagis Diagnosticsis an entirely physician-led sub-specialty pathology group supported by a CAP-accredited histology lab located in the heart of Houston, Texas. Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant I to join our growing accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a four-year degree in accounting or a related field and a strong desire to develop their accounting career. This position offers opportunities for growth and professional development while providing support to the accounting department with a variety of accounting and finance functions. FLSA: Exempt, Regular Full Time, Salary- $60-75,000.00 Annual Work Location:In person, Monday through Friday, 5 days per week at our Houston corporate office. Key Responsibilities: • Review of accounts payable transactions for accuracy • Data entry of payroll transaction data • Ensure timely and accurate posting of transactions in accounting software • Maintain proper documentation for all accounting transactions and records Assist with the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements • Perform general ledger account reconciliations and journal entries • Support month-end and year-end closing processes • Assist in preparing schedules and reports for external audit • Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy • Support management with financial reporting, budget tracking, and other ad-hoc accounting tasks Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field • 2+ years of accounting experience highly preferred • Strong understanding of accounting principles • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (formulas, pivot tables and xlookups) • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Bill.com) • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accuracy while managing multiple tasks • Excellent communication and organizational skills • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team • Eagerness to learn and grow in the field of accounting Why Work at Sagis?
