Overview
We are looking for a year-round accountant to join our team. To be successful you will need to be organized, deadline-oriented, and be able to handle several clients at once. Critical thinking and strong analytical skills are a must, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Effective communication is essential to explain generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reports to clients.
This is a full-time, permanent position, Monday–Friday, with occasional overtime and Saturdays during tax season. This position is on-site, and candidates must reside in Chula Vista or San Diego regions. We are not considering remote or hybrid work arrangements.
Responsibilities
Month-end & Year-end Closing Journal Entries:
• Prepare journal entries to facilitate month-end and year-end closing.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of journal entries for financial reporting.
• Promptly provide adjusting journal entries to clients.
Bank Activity Reconciliation:
• Reconcile bank activity to the general ledger.
• Investigate and resolve variances to maintain accurate financial records.
Sales & Use Tax Reconciliation:
• Reconcile sales and use tax transactions.
• Prepare accurate worksheets for sales tax filings.
Fixed Asset Transactions:
• Reconcile fixed asset transactions to ensure accurate capitalization and depreciation.
• Post transactions to maintain up-to-date fixed asset records.
Balance Sheet Reconciliations:
• Perform balance sheet and P&L reconciliations for all key accounts.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy.
Intercompany Transaction Postings:
• Post intercompany transactions accurately and timely.
• Process monthly intercompany payments in accordance with agreements.
Payroll:
• Reconcile, audit, and report on payroll accounts.
• Calculate wages, deductions, bonuses, and taxes.
• Prepare quarterly and year-end reports.
• Prepare W2 and 1099 forms.
Financial Statements:
• Ensure preparation of timely, accurate, and complete financial statements for clients using the above techniques.
• Advise clients on daily operational expenses and COGS.
• Support tax preparers to prepare and submit tax reports in compliance with regulations.
General:
• Review work prepared by other accountants.
Qualifications
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Basic, up-to-date knowledge of accounting principles.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams) and Zoom.
• Ability to use accounting software programs (QuickBooks Online & Desktop, ACS, and CFS).
• 2-4 years of experience in accounting.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience with accounting.
• Proficient in accounting software programs (QuickBooks Online & Desktop, ACS, and CFS).
• ProAdvisor in QuickBooks Online & Desktop.
• Basic, up-to-date knowledge of tax law.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field.
