Staff Accountant

Staff Accountant The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, monthly closing reports, and account reconciliations. The position is responsible for timely and accurate transaction coding to the general ledger. The Staff Accountant is key to producing accurate financial information needed to effectively manage the business and meet reporting obligations. Essential Responsibilities: · Utilizes financial data to prepare and record journal entries. · Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries, document business transactions, and maintain and coordinate accounting procedures. · Prepares cash and balance sheet account reconciliations for company financial statements. · Analyzes financial statements and provides explanations for variances. · Reaches period-over-period variances in revenue, cost of sales, and expense and provides explanations for the fluctuations. · Identifies, researches, and resolves all issues related to daily functions. · Conducts business analysis, with the ability to design, implement and manage projects & process improvements related to cash management, treasury workstation, and accounting initiatives. · Identifies efficiencies and recommends enhancements to management. · Prepares weekly and monthly management reports. · Works with internal and external auditors as needed. · Documents and/or update policies and procedures as needed. · Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Skills and Experience: · 2+ years of related accounting experience or at least one year as an accountant from a public accounting firm (CPA preferred). · Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred. · Must be an advanced Excel user (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.) · Ability to work with all levels of managers throughout the company in analyzing financial situations. · Ability to maintain work priorities in an environment with multiple concurrent tasks and projects. · Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information. · Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contract employees, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. · Strong attention to detail while handling a large volume of documentation.
