STAFF ACCOUNTANT

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Staff Accountant to perform detailed account reconciliations, review financial data & transactions, and prepare general ledger journal entries to ensure timely completion of the monthly financial statement closing activities. This position requires excellent independent judgment and discretionary decision-making skills. RESPONSIBILITIES • Exercise a high-degree of discretion to successfully support the Accounting department. • Review and research accounting transactions. • Create and maintain spreadsheets supporting the financial statements, management reporting, and tax compliance. • Regularly maintain detailed account reconciliations to the general ledger including; bank reconciliations, AR, AP, Inventory, PR, fixed assets, long-term debt, and other balance sheet accounts as assigned. • Assist in the month-end closing of the general ledger including preparation and posting of appropriate journal entries, reserves, accruals, and provisions. • Assist with Monthly Washington B&O Tax Filings and other local tax returns. • Continuously strives for process improvement and quality outcomes as part of the monthly closing process. QUALIFICATIONS • At least three (3) years in a related accounting position. • High technical aptitude, including high-level Microsoft Excel skills, accounting software, and databases. • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred. • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
