Staff Accountant Job in San Diego, CA

LHH is looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our client’s Insurance Accounting team in San Diego, CA. This role is responsible for a broad range of accounting functions, including daily cash posting, monthly carrier reporting, bank reconciliations, year-end 1099 preparation, responding to billing inquiries from agents and underwriters, monitoring the aged receivables report, and assisting with additional projects as needed. The anticipated salary for this direct hire role is between $75,000-$85,000 with additional bonus potential. Responsibilities: • Post daily cash receipts, prepare bank deposits, and initiate transfers • Prepare monthly carrier reports and remit payments • Respond to billing inquiries from insureds, agents, and underwriters via phone and email • Manage and respond to messages in the Accounting department’s shared inbox • Process refunds, commissions, chargebacks, and returned checks • Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies • Monitor bank account activity and cash flow; advise management of funding needs • Review and follow up on aged receivables • Coordinate year-end 1099 reporting and ensure timely submission • Assist with carrier audits and support ad hoc accounting projects Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent work experience • 3+ years of accounting experience (insurance industry preferred) • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs and PivotTables required) • Strong attention to detail and accuracy • Excellent communication and customer service skills • Self-starter with a proactive, problem-solving mindset • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Pay Details:$75,000.00 to $85,000.00 per year Search managed by:Evan Blakey Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled To read our Candidate Privacy Information Statement, which explains how we will use your information, please navigate to https://www.lhh.com/us/en/candidate-privacy The Company will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and/or security clearance requirements, including, as applicable: • The California Fair Chance Act • Los Angeles City Fair Chance Ordinance • Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers • San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance
