Based in Poway, California (North San Diego County), Toray Membrane USA, Inc. (TMUS) is looking for a full timeStaff Accountantto join its team. This position will report directly to the Senior Finance Manager. The Staff Accountant is responsible for providing management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts, as well as preparing financial reports. Will also provide support for general accounting responsibilities, up to and including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, Fixed Assets and Payroll Administration functions. Under TMUS’s Integrated Management System (IMS), the Staff Accountant is responsible for ensuring that assigned financial processes conforms to the requirements of ISO 9001:2015/14001:2015 and is maintained in a planned and systematic manner. This position is based in Poway. The work schedule for this position is typically Monday through Friday and on rare occasions, may require performing work outside of normal business hours, including weekends. Essential Functions 1. Prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement and other reports. Reconciles balance sheet accounts along with bank reconciliations. 2. Maintains accuracy of fixed assets using the current systems application and reconciles against the general ledger. 3. Posts received funds to the appropriate accounts receivables or general ledger account. 4. Prepares sales and use tax returns. 5. Interfaces with outside auditors. 6. Runs and posts costing on daily basis. 7. Generates/reclassifies journal entries as needed. Prepares and enters adjusting journal entries. Maintains journal entry logs. 8. Prepares Price Purchase Variance (PPV) report. 9. Prepares the gross profit report at month-end for senior management. 10. Generates sales journal reports for Treasurer at month-end. 11. Prepares monthly commissions and sales expense analysis reports for Sales Director. 12. Prepares the finance presentation for the Finance Manager on a monthly basis. 13. Assists with month-end close (i.e., journal entries, bank reconciliations). 14. Reviews intended booking of accounts payable vouchers prior to entry. 15. Functions as backup for bi-weekly payroll as needed. Performs payroll accounts reconciliations. 16. Prepares the duty drawback data collection. 17. In meeting the goals and objectives of the Quality Management System (QMS), ensures that internal training activities are carried out and completed when scheduled to maintain and sustain competency and awareness. 18. Understands, supports, and complies with TMUS’s environmental, health and safety (EH&S) requirements, Quality Management System (QMS) guidelines and HR-related policies and procedures. 19. Performs all work duties assigned while following established safety practices and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering/working in designated areas where PPE is required that meet OSHA, TMUS and Toray HQ policies, guidelines and standards. 20. Maintains regular, reliable in-person attendance and punctuality; ensure accurate time and attendance recordkeeping; and absence notification procedures are followed. 21. Other duties and accountabilities not included above but related to the position, as assigned and when required. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required 1.Minimum Education (or substitute experience):A Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Accounting. 2.Minimum Work Experience:4+ years of hands-on general accounting/finance experience, including general ledger and financial reporting experience. 3.Skills Required: a. Knowledge of general financial accounting. b. Understanding of and able to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles. c. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. d. Able to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing to communicate information effectively. e. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. f. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet strict deadlines. g. Effective interpersonal skills; able to work in a team-oriented environment. h. Computer literate; possess working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook at the basic level, including Microsoft Excel and Word at the intermediate level. i. Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment; able to organize and prioritize work effectively as well as maintain flexibility as priorities change. j. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive company information and financial data.
