We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate finance and financial management, with a solid understanding of double entry bookkeeping and financial software. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy of our financial records and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
Responsibilities
• General Ledger Management:Perform daily accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis of general ledger accounts. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records. Assist in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Accounts Payable Support:Work with our Accounts Payable Clerk to ensure payment terms are met and schedule vendor wires. Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies. Sales Tax reporting and process 1099’s.
• Bank Activities & Reconciliations: Process Vendor Wires and perform daily reconciliations, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
• Financial Reporting & Analysis:Prepare various financial reports, schedules, and statements as required. Assist in the preparation of financial analyses and ad-hoc reports to support management decisions. Contribute to budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Compliance & Audit:Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies. Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations. Support the implementation and maintenance of strong internal controls.
• Fixed Asset Management:Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules.
• Other Duties:Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management. Seek opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency. Collaborate effectively with other departments.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience in corporate finance or as an accountant, demonstrating strong financial acumen.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.) is essential.
• Familiarity with financial management tools, SAGE 100 experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate account analysis.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with team members.
• Prefer Experience at a distribution company.
