Staff Cyber Security Network Engineer

Position Type: Full Time

Salary Range: In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $129,412.80 - $163,881.60. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.

Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado. This is not a remote position.

Additional Compensation: This position is eligible for an end-of-year bonus.

Position Description:

We are looking for a Cybersecurity Network Engineer to join our rapidly growing engineering team. As a Staff Cybersecurity Network Engineer at Bluestaq, you are a professional with hands-on cybersecurity expertise. The ideal candidate is a motivated, cybersecurity network engineer with an understanding of core cybersecurity methodologies and is focused on growing as an engineer. In a Cybersecurity Engineering position at Bluestaq, you have a general understanding of technology infrastructures using AWS, Automation Tools, Firewalls, VPNs, Data Loss Prevention, IDS/IPS, Web-Proxy, and Security Audits.

Basic Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrates an understanding of security, risk, and compliance for large-scale computing solutions.
  • Experience with cloud compliance and security standards.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform/Terragrunt, and Packer.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows.
  • General networking knowledge.
  • Experience with vulnerability scans and recognizing vulnerabilities in security systems.
  • Experience with cloud-based concepts and the AWS component stack.
  • Understanding of cloud identity and access management tools.
  • Knowledge of system vulnerabilities and security issues.
  • Ability to test and identify network and system vulnerabilities.
  • Knowledge of security controls and the STIG process.
  • Experience with firewalls.
  • Familiar with troubleshooting and debugging skills, with a passion for problem-solving and investigation.
  • Experience with Python, C++, Java, Ruby, Node, Go and/or Power Shell.
  • Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
  • Able to resolve routine issues and problems.
  • Ability to communicate scope and state of work, including articulating roadblocks.
  • Proactive and thoughtful in seeking clarification and asking questions.
  • Displays a strong sense of ownership for projects.
  • Ability to apply cybersecurity skills and knowledge to approach new problems in creative ways.
  • Ability to communicate scope and state of work, identify issues, and anticipate roadblocks that may arise.
  • Takes responsibility for their personal development, has a growth mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • IAT Level II/III certification.
  • Maintaining computer networks including mainframes, VPNs, routers and other physical hardware.
  • Installing and configuring network equipment.
  • Creating firewalls and updating virus protection software and data security systems to keep data and communications protected.
  • Monitoring computer systems to improve network performance for all systems.
  • Troubleshooting, resolving, and communicating networking issues to other employees and management.
  • Implementing disaster recovery procedures.
  • Maintaining current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems.

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • CISSP-ISSAP
  • CISSP-ISSEP

Required Education: 8+ years of cybersecurity experience with a Bachelor's degree or 12+ years of cybersecurity experience with an Associate's degree.

Clearance Requirement: This position requires the ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance. To be eligible for clearance, US Citizenship is required, and an employee must agree to participate in a background screen and credit check.

Relocation: This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
