Description

Today, Cobalt helps secure hundreds of leading companies (DocuSign, Credit Karma) by connecting them with on-demand pentesting experts. The application brings both sides together to identify, triage and fix vulnerabilities. More than seven years and over 20K commits later, our technology has been battle tested by thousands of users.

What’s next? Cobalt is growing its Employee Experience team to help solidify our status as a world-class security platform. 

As a Staff Engineer on this team, you’ll leverage your expertise to design and build tools used by Cobalt employees to facilitate pentest staffing or pentester payments to establish Cobalt as part of the larger, connected SDLC and security tooling ecosystem. You’ll work collaboratively with product managers and designers to drive the implementation and release of major features, and be a champion of best practices for writing well-tested, well-organized code.

You Will

• Coach two frontend engineers in the EX team. Provide technical leadership, mentor and grow our team.

• Define the software architecture vision and implement our backend and frontend systems to meet the challenging functional, scalability and reliability requirements of our fast growing business.

• Work closely with other Staff engineers and EX product manager to gather requirements and deliver creative solutions that meet needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability and realistic implementation schedules.

• See and present "the big picture", offer solutions to make it better. Be the technical ambassador of the team.

• Define, document and evangelize best practices with the team

• Proactively identify current and future short-comings and opportunities across departments.

You Identify As A

• Self-Starter. As a senior member of the team, you’ll feel at home as a hands-on, self-directed manager who drives initiatives within the team and cross-team, for the product and for other engineers

• Team-Player. You collaborate with engineers and the Product team (PMs, Designers) daily to deliver high quality features on-time 

• Technical-Interface. Not only internally, but with customers and other stakeholders, you’ll help others understand technical complexities and opportunities in terms they’ll understand

You Have

• 8+ years of professional experience with software development.

• Extensive programming experience in one or more of the following: Frontend: React/Redux, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript. Backend Ruby / Rails or Kotlin / Spring knowledge.

• 2+ years of technical leadership experience or equivalent talent and desire for it.

• Successful experience of setting the vision, building, leading and motivating global engineering teams.

• Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions, deal with loosely defined problems and fast changing requirements, think abstractly.

• Experience working with RESTful APIs

• Knowledge of application architecture, security and reliability concepts.

• Good organization skills, excellent written and verbal communication in English.

• Comfortable working in distributed environment.

Bonus if you Have

• Experience in a SaaS company

• Experience with frontend modularization (Micro frontends) and distributed architecture

• Docker, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Typescript

• Experience in the cybersecurity industry / knowledge of best practices
