Staff Platform Software Engineer - Cloud

Team Overview:

Impinj is seeking a Platform Software Engineer with Cloud experience to join the Platform Engineering team. As a member of the team, you will work closely with others in Platform Engineering to develop innovative RAIN RFID reader & gateway applications and backend algorithms for the Impinj Platform. In this position, you will collaborate with the Platform Cloud, Software, Hardware, and Systems Engineering teams to design and develop RAIN RFID innovations. The team works closely with our Enterprise customers and outside partners to deploy platform solutions that solve real world problems. The Impinj Platform of tags, software, readers, and gateways already gives a digital identity to billions of everyday items. This is a hybrid role and you must be located in Seattle, WA. 

What you will do:

• Leverage your software engineering experience to research and develop RAIN solution algorithms, applications, test tools, and prototypes.
• Pioneer new cloud-based RAIN RFID applications to solve real world problems across diverse use cases and industries.
• Partner with the Software, Hardware, and System Engineering teams to test RAIN RFID reader and gateway device firmware features in support of enterprise RAIN RFID solutions.
• Collaborate with outside partners and customers to develop and deploy novel RAIN RFID solutions based on the Impinj Platform.
• Create proof of concept demonstrations for customers to show potential uses of the Impinj Platform.
• Leverage the insights derived from data coming from enterprise customer deployments to assess and improve system performance and build system behavior models.

What you will bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of experience in software development engineering.
• Experience in the design, development, and administration of cloud solutions and networks, primarily with AWS preferred.
• Ability to code in multiple coding languages with proficiency in Python, and either Go or Ruby.
• Basic knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
• Experience with developing infrastructure as code, e.g., with Terraform, preferred.
• Ability to ship high-quality work following best practices, such as adequate testing, successful rollout, and consistent monitoring.
• Confidence in proposing short-term and long-term solutions for pain points in the system or product with clear deliverables and action items.
• Experience in leading efforts to set the direction of work and architecting highly-scalable systems for new products.
• A proven ability to efficiently balance contributions to multiple simultaneous projects.
• Willingness to work in a hybrid working environment that requires on-premises presence at our labs and testing facilities several days a week.

Compensation and Benefits: 

The benefits listed below may vary depending on the nature of your employment with Impinj and the country where you work. 

The typical base pay range for this role across the US is $100,000- $213,150. Individual base pay depends on various factors such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties, requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Both market wage data and the mid-point of the pay range is reviewed and used as the starting point for all new hire offers. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time. 
 
At Impinj certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
