Position Overview
Hexagon Lavish® has an open full-time/permanent position for an experienced Constructive Research Statistician to become a member of an interdisciplinary scientific team performing analysis of meaningful data and providing insight into individual mortality in relation to contaminant exposure. The primary function of the researcher is to gain competitive advantage through experimental and evidence-based research, data mining and analytics, predictive modeling and sound knowledge management.
The ideal candidate will also possess an expertise in biometrics and biopharmaceuticals research as well as analytical statistics. The Constructive Research Statistician will be responsible for the preparation of statistical protocols including sample size calculations; develop randomization specifications and the verification of the results. The Constructive Research Statistician will be a representative of their department as a part of an interdepartmental project team and serve as the contact with clients for statistical aspects of clinical studies. The Constructive Research Statistician will also be held responsible with the task of establishing departmental processes; interaction with other departments; training of staff; and other departmental administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in the development, interpretation, implementation, and support of several different types of statistical modeling and/or data mining techniques
- Collaborates with the Bioinformatics Researcher, Computational Biologist and Information Characterization Researcher to complete Research projects
- Evaluates needs for analytic information and converts them into action items, requests or projects
- Applies computer skills to enable intensive analysis techniques
- Work to analyze needs for analytic information and convert them into action items, requests or projects
- Uses knowledge of business areas and research skills to address and solve a diverse range of business issues
- Evaluate methods for automatically identifying notes and develop an NLP pipeline for document classification and information extraction
- Maintain detailed, professional programming and database documentation
- Assist in preparation for research manuscripts and project reports and generating tables and graphs for publications
- Clean data, build datasets for processing, interpret data, identify problems with data or coding, and resolve technical problems
- Applies existing custom research software to both well-defined and complex problems
- Adhere to project-specific software development guidelines and practices
- Maintain strong dedication to the implementation and perpetuation of values and ethics
- Gather, record, analyze, interpret, and provide written reports of results
- Understand and apply advanced scientific principles, theories, concepts, practices, and standards to process and analytical development
Candidate Profile:
- Experience in methods of analysis and causal inference for observational studies, including cohort and case-control, and survival analysis (linear, logistic, Cox regression)
- Experience with developing and testing numerical environmental prediction codes in a high-performance computing environment
- Develop statistical analysis plans and perform analyses of moderate to high technical complexity with limited supervision
- Select among existing approaches and techniques to complete varying assignments and learn new methods in response to project demands
- Must have demonstrable proficiency with several of the following technologies: Matlab and SAS-macro language
- Govern activities for less experienced staff on selected projects to ensure quality of analysis/programming
- Exceptional knowledge of software development methodologies and processes
- Write reports to interpret results of statistical analyses to non-statisticians, demonstrating organization and clarity
- Experience with the development and use of natural language processing algorithms
- Comprehensive experience with programming languages, flow, and development is preferred
- Ability to analyze and interpret numerical and categorical data; strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Ph.D. (with 5 years of industrial experience) in a relevant discipline (mathematics, chemistry, engineering, statistics, or related physical sciences)

Base Salary for this position is conditioned by a "24-schedule" that awards a certain amount per hour.
This position is a full-time/permanent position and requires a "24-schedule" that equates to a minimum of forty (40) hours per week.
