Job Description

Indagare is seeking a freelance creative, inventive and passionate Story Producer to join our Indagare Productions team. As a Story Producer, you will be responsible for developing compelling and engaging narratives that showcase unique travel experiences, hotels, destinations and cultures around the world. This role involves working closely with the Indagare Productions team and also collaborating with video editors at external production houses to shape and enhance storylines, ensuring they resonate with the target audience and align with the creative vision and objectives of the project. The anticipated project timeline for this person is 1 year with the potential continue, and the approximate time commitment is 40 hours per week.

This involves working on pre-production elements in addition to post, such as researching destinations and potential voices, pre-interviewing subjects, writing interview questions, developing story arcs, writing scripts, and preparing shoot outlines.

The Freelance Story Producer will work primarily on long form content, but projects will also include short form video content and social cuts. This role requires excellent planning and storytelling skills, the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, collaborate with various teams to bring stories to life, as well as a deep understanding of storytelling techniques in visual media. An understanding of the travel industry is a plus. 

This role does not involve travel and field production; it is possible it may down the line. The Story Producer reports to the Indagare Productions Senior Director & Executive Producer. 


What You’ll Do:

  • Story research 
  • Pre-interview subjects 
  • Write interview questions 
  • Prepare shoot outlines and plans to properly prepare Indagare Producer and Indagare CEO for shoot
  • Develop content calendars and story outlines to align with marketing objectives and promotional campaigns
  • Identify, pitch and create unique story angles that resonate with our target audience and meet partnership objectives 
  • Post shoot, go through all footage to gain full understanding of the media 
  • Script and story develop: Collaborating with EP and Indagare CEO to brainstorm, develop, write and refine scripts, ensuring they align with the project’s creative direction 
  • Work directly with internal, when relevant, and primarily external video editors on the edit for a given project 
  • Provide feedback and revisions (plus the feedback and revisions of all key stakeholders) to editors clearly and concisely and in timely fashion to ensure: 1) the final product reflects the intended story and vision, 2) all content meets high standards of accuracy, quality, and brand voice; 3) the product created is engaging and cohesive 
  • Communicate and collaborate with all Indagare team members of relevance on a given project and communicate status updates frequently to EP 
  • Work closely with Indagare EP to present a final product that matches the EP and Indagare CEO’s vision for the project and also the objectives of external partners where relevant 
  • Address any issues or challenges that arise during the production process, find creative solutions to keep the story on track
  • Monitor the overall quality and consistency of the storytelling throughout the production
  • Collaborate with marketing, social media, and design teams to ensure cohesive storytelling across all platforms
  • Participate in production meetings and contribute creative insights to enhance the storytelling process
  • Work within project timelines to meet production milestones and deadlines; Effectively manage multiple aspects of story production concurrently


What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field
  • 6+ years of experience in production; experience in travel production is a plus
  • Proven experience in storytelling, content creation, journalism, with a focus on travel
  • Understanding of visual storytelling and cinematography and experience with multimedia content creation
  • Passion for storytelling and a creative mindset
  • Adaptability to evolving project requirements
  • Patience and flexibility 
  • Knowledge of different genres and storytelling formats and principles and narrative structure 
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and their role in content distribution
  • Strong organizational skills and detail orientation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to provide constructive and detailed feedback 
  • Ability to adjust to changing priorities and handle multiple assignments at once in a fast-paced, dynamic environment 
  • Positive and collaborative attitude; a team-player
