Company Overview
Kairos Power is a new nuclear energy technology and engineering company whose mission is to enable the world’s transition to clean energy, with the ultimate goal to dramatically improve people’s quality of life while protecting the environment. This goal will be accomplished through the commercialization of the fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor (FHR) that can be deployed with robust safety, affordable costs, and flexible operation to accommodate the expansion of variable renewables.
Job Summary
Work closely with senior management and key external stakeholders to identify, clarify, and resolve complex issues critical to Kairos Power's business strategy; mainly focusing on Molten Salt/flibe and chemical data issued from development, designing, testing into commercial financial model as required by key external stakeholders. Work with leads in Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Business Development to collect, maintain and define molten salt and chemistry data, capture and communicate lessons learned and scaling considerations, establish cost and financial models to analyze and summarize the salt and chemical data into value propositions and formulate recommendations for executive management decision making.
Responsibilities
- Responsibilities include: Data Identification & Analysis: Identifies data sources from salt testing, gathers, structures and analyzes salt and flibe data in a robust process. May recommend data requirements to salt team; Modeling & Forecasting: Develops forecasting models using defined methods including establishing a cost estimation for any salt facility.
- Leverages and integrates design specifications into bottom-up cost analysis.
- Analyzes impacts of flibe costs and development in overall Kairos Power LCOE cost model; Recommendations: Prepares and ideates recommendation documents, including presentations, models, supporting metrics, research findings, business requirements and related impact analyses; Performance Management & Control: Develops performance metrics to establish process success.
- Reviews data post-implementation to measure outcomes and impacts. May develop recommendations to minimize impacts in flibe costs.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Chemical Engineering
- Three (3) years' post-baccalaureate experience as a Chemical Engineer working in molten salt and flibe technical development.
- Two years of the experience must include cost modeling using costing software (such as ASPEN), and one year of experience must include statistics, including stochastic modeling (e.g., Monte Carlo simulation).

The salary range for this position is $125,258 to $134,083 for employees working onsite at our Alameda, CA headquarters. The range provided in this job posting represents the typical range or starting rate of candidates hired in California. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, the market data for your work location, and a comparison to other employees already in the role.
