Job Description Summary:

The Strategy Development Manager is responsible for assisting with the thought-leadership, development and execution of Ameren's corporate strategy, business planning, and performance management.

This role will report to the Director, Strategic Planning and will work closely with co-workers at all levels across all four segments of the company (Ameren Missouri, Ameren Illinois, Ameren Transmission, and Business & Corporate Services) including members of the Executive Leadership Team, the Senior Leadership Team, and the Ameren Leadership Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner in formulating Ameren's corporate strategy by working with segment leaders in order to gain alignment and traction.
  • Build relationships with leaders across the organization to develop and execute Ameren's strategy at the enterprise and segment levels efficiently and effectively.
  • Lead elements of the annual corporate strategy refresh process, such as: (1) the identification of key business trends and development of Ameren's corresponding points of view; (2) enhancement of Ameren's Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis; (3) refinement of Ameren's strategic areas; and (4) recommendation of Ameren's enterprise Blue Chips.
  • Participate in the research and analysis of potential strategic growth opportunities outlining the various paths and risks associated with each path.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of an enterprise-wide One Ameren approach for performance management providing linkages between Ameren's strategy, business plans, and the corporate and operating scorecards.
  • Develop and maintain competitive analysis relative to peers and other potential market participants.
  • Bring a business / entrepreneurial mindset to look for fundamental competitive advantages and reach for market disruptors and discontinuities.
  • Conduct targeted data analysis and develop insights in order to identify trends, actions, future product policy / technical / technology needs.
  • Identify opportunities as well as threats and evaluate multiple options; provide recommendations complete with risk analysis.
  • Translate market research data to identify customer, industry, and technology trends and assess market prospects.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required. Master's degree in business, legal or related discipline preferred. Seven or more years of professional experience (preferably in strategy, policy or related field), or five or more years of experience combined with a master's degree. Previous experience in high level project management or team leadership are preferred. Energy industry knowledge and experience with Office365 are also preferred.

  • A broad industry network and proven ability to interface at a senior / executive level preferred.
