Structural Welder - Marine Construction and Repair

Job description Must be DBIDS Eligible - 1st and 2nd shift Previous shipyard experience is required for this position. Overview We are seeking a skilled Structural Welder to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating and assembling metal structures according to blueprints and specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in welding, particularly with FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and a strong understanding of construction site practices. You will work closely with other tradespeople to ensure that projects are completed efficiently and to the highest standards. Duties • Fabricate and assemble metal components based on detailed blueprints and project specifications. • Perform welding tasks using FCAW techniques to join metal parts securely. • Operate press brake machines for shaping metal sheets as required. • Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards throughout the welding process. • Utilize cranes for lifting heavy materials and components during assembly. • Conduct inspections of completed welds to ensure quality and structural integrity. • Maintain a clean and organized work environment on the construction site. • Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and specifications. Skills • Proficient in blueprint reading to interpret technical drawings accurately. • Strong knowledge of welding techniques, particularly FCAW, and experience with sheet metal fabrication. • Familiarity with operating press brake machines and other metalworking equipment. • Understanding of industry codes and standards related to structural welding. • Ability to work effectively in a team environment on construction sites. • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety practices in all tasks performed.
