Conditions of Employment
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Candidate required to obtain the necessary security/investigation level.
- Must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment pursuing a baccalaureate or graduate degree at least half-time.
- The entire duration of the Post-Secondary Student appointment constitutes a trial period.
- Upon completion of requirements for graduation and successful completion of the PSS program requirements, you may be eligible for non-competitive conversion, at the agency's discretion, to a career or career-conditional appointment.
Qualifications
Qualifications for the GS-07:
1. Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education. (An academic year of graduate education is the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 academic year of full-time study, if not defined by school, then (18 semester or 27 quarter hours will be used.
OR
2. Completion of a Bachelor's Degree with Superior Academic Achievement (defined below)
Superior Academic Achievement: Superior academic achievement (SAA) recognizes individuals who have achieved superior academic standing. S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership. Class standing -- Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses. Grade-point average (G.P.A.)-- Applicants must have a grade-point average of: a.3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or .3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.
Students may be non-competitively converted to a career or career-conditional appointment upon successful completion of an academic program; complete 640 hours of continuous employment; meet OPM qualifications for the position converted to; and meet time-in-grade requirements.
Education
Any applicant falsely claiming an academic degree from an accredited school will be subject to actions ranging from disqualification from federal employment to removal from federal service.
If your education was completed at a foreign college or university, you must show comparability to education received in accredited educational institutions in the United States and comparability to applicable minimum coursework requirements for this position. This position is inside the bargaining unit. If the duty location is within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, the position will be included in the Local 12, AFGE bargaining unit. If the duty location is outside the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, the position will be included in the NCFLL bargaining unit.
Career Ladder Promotion GS-12 - There is no obligation to provide future promotions if you are selected. Promotions are dependent on your ability to perform the duties at a higher level, meet all the performance requirements, and supervisor's recommendation to the next grade.
