Sushi Chef

Sushi | Bar ATX is looking for a dedicated and talented Chef to join our team! Sushi | Bar is an intimate Omakase experience serving up to 12 guests two to three times per evening. This is a culinary position, but not a "Back of House" position as each member of the team interacts and serves the guests directly. The ability to work with a team with professionalism and positivity while providing an exceptional guest experience is paramount to this position. Sushi | Bar uses a variety of nontraditional techniques in preparing our 17 course experience however traditional Sushi training and experience especially when it comes to breaking down and portioning whole fish as well as creating and forming Nigiri is essential. Guidelines for the position: • 2+ years of experience in a sushi concept • Sushi/Japanese cuisine experience preferred • Omakase experience is huge plus • Attention to Detail • Sense of Urgency • Engaging Personality • Must have exceptional knife skills • Must have the ability or willingness to learn breaking down and portioning whole fish • Knowledge of fermentation a plus • Ability to multi-task, describe product/techniques while preparing items • Ability to work long shifts up to 10-12 hours • Ability to work nights, weekends and some holidays Those embracing the philosophies of Shoshin – approaching experiences and tasks with the enthusiasm and openness of a beginner’s mind, and Kaizen – the discipline to improve at least slightly every day, please apply!
