YOUR ROLE:

We’re currently looking for a talented, motivated, ambitious and innovative SVP, Marketing Sciences Lead (Data Sciences) who has a passion for all things data but primarily the ability, understanding and application the latest data science techniques in both creation / activation and ongoing maintenance and optimization.

This individual will be able to use their data science capability to accurately enhance our understanding of and treatment of our clients’ customers as well as be able to identify how we can use data to transform all parts of our clients’ organizations and value chain with intelligent operationally efficient solutions.

This individual will be able to transform the complex into clear and compelling solutions to clients and deliver these in presentation and person articulately and confidently.

As the SVP, you will be a vision setter in the department and manage our implementation of strategic initiatives. You will create the organization team structure you need for success and be accountable for the delivery of your team.

Whilst you will drive forward the client work you oversee, you will also drive efficiency and innovation in the Data Science team by ensuring your team is developing new products and playbooks, that can scale our solutions and create consistency in exceeding client needs.

We expect you to be T-shaped in your understanding and application of all things data science. By this we mean your primary strength will lie in the application and understanding of data science (with strong capability in segmentation, modelling, machine learning, and attribution) and the latest code and algorithms available to lead in this discipline alongside a strong knowledge in data engineering / technology requirements that will enable your team to build and activate your work, as well as a good understanding of the other 3 disciplines in the department.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management

  • You will need to run the department and its evolution
    • Competency mapping and training guides to advance the team’s careers
    • Creation and maintenance of product guides and best practice for segmentation and model builds, MLOps, advanced attribution
    • Creation, sharing and maintenance of code
    • Resource management
  • Motivate them behind your vision
    • Develop their skills and design objectives accordingly
    • Ensure they are bought into where the agency is going and the team’s role within it
    • Make sure they feel part of the agency / part of the team
    • Make sure they feel this is a place which will put them at the cutting edge of their discipline and a place to invest in
  • Work hand in hand with Marketing Sciences leadership team and Head of Marketing Sciences to evolve your own discipline and team, and help shape others

Client

  • Understanding clients’ objectives, their business and KPIs and step change their businesses through the power of data
    • Creation of data science roadmaps for all
  • Understand the data science techniques to be able to deliver the right message to the right individual at the right time across customer journeys and be able to write the Data Science roadmaps to deliver this.
    • Understand how to deliver your vision through the right marketing technology stack / platforms and data science pipeline / engineering requirements
  • Understand the contextual footprint required to truly understand consumer behaviors and decision making for advanced test set up and attribution
  • Maintaining relations with senior practitioners on the client side in the Marketing Sciences discipline
    • Become their trusted partner
    • Be able to sell your vision with well-designed and presented documents
  • Writing documents explaining the analysis undertaken to our clients in seamless language but that sells confidence as well

New Business / PR

  • Leading data science solutions / answers to relevant New Business opportunities
    • Contributing to RFIs / RFPs / Pitching
  • Writing thought pieces / attending (networking) and presenting at conferences
  • Participating in industry wide hackathons / challenges

Network

  • Help the Head of Marketing Sciences grow the reputation of the US team
  • Lead, take part in and drive forward the Global Marketing Sciences community
  • Be the lead in our Centre of Excellence globally for AI

Evolution

  • Drive the team’s and your constant evolution with clear direction
  • Ensure as an agency we are kept abreast of the latest trends in the marketplace and are set up to meet them
  • Have a clear focus and passion on innovation, staying restless and always looking for new trends / opportunities for the agency and our clients
  • Ensure we continually update our clients on the latest innovations and transformations that they need to be aware of
    • Create a name for our Data Science discipline in the Network and in the Industry – be groundbreaking!

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative subject (Science / Tech / Engineering or Mathematics); Master’s degree or PHD is a real plus.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in marketing analytics, customer experience insights, performance optimization, ideally in a marketing agency or management consulting practice.
  • Strong management experience of large fast-growing teams
  • Excellent statistical background / knowledge
    • Hands-on experience of statistical analysis techniques such as propensity modelling and segmentation and advanced attribution
  • Advanced Python capability (ideally R too)
  • Advanced SQL capability
  • Git, Git Hub capability
  • Spark / Scala capability
  • Understand old and new machine learning techniques (good knowledge of auto ML capability offerings)
  • Strong hands-on capability with the latest deep learning techniques
  • Strong understanding of the importance of taxonomy, tagging and tracking for advanced attribution
  • Previous experience of working with large data sets, databases and the ability to understand database design, engineering and the stitching together of all formats of data [O, 1st, 2nd 3Rd party].
    • Knowledge of how to drive real time omni-channel data driven messaging – next best experience decision engine creation and platform delivery requirements.
    • Knowledge of best-in-class data science workbenches and auto ML. Understand pros and cons, how they should be set up / function efficiently with multiple internal and client teams
  • Experience of / in data driven advanced attribution [MMM / MTA]
  • Experience across cloud architectures: AWS / GCP / Azure
  • Strong understanding of open source environments and the development in cognitive services both free and paid for

Desirable but not essential:

  • C / C++ capability
  • Knowledge of web analytics online tools such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Adobe Test and Target
  • Knowledge of visualization tools: Tableau / PowerBI / Datorama.

Knowledge of platforms and tools such as Databricks

This range is specific to Chicago and multiple factors are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: skill set, experience and training, certifications; etc. This is an exempt position.
