Summary
We are seeking a skilled and security-focused System Administrator to join our cutting-edge Research & Development team, dedicated to developing next-generation training technologies for fighter pilots. This role will be responsible for managing and securing IT systems in compliance with DISA standards, supporting advanced cloud environments, and ensuring robust networking infrastructure. You will work alongside engineers, software developers, and simulation specialists to create innovative solutions that enhance mission readiness.
Job Description
As a System Administrator in our R&D unit, you will:
•
Manage and maintain on-premises and cloud-based systems (with emphasis on AWS and similar platforms).
•
Implement and monitorDISA STIGcompliance, ensuring systems meet DoD cybersecurity requirements.
•
Support the networking infrastructure, including configuration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
•
Coordinate with software developers and simulation engineers to provide system resources and maintain uptime.
•
Perform system backups, recovery operations, and disaster recovery planning.
•
Monitor system performance, security events, and capacity, recommending improvements as needed.
•
Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, processes, and compliance activities.
•
Provide user support for specialized simulation and training systems.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Requirements
Required:
•
Active CompTIA Security+ certification.
•
Proven experience administering cloud-based environments (AWS, Azure, or similar).
•
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs).
•
Experience applying and maintaining DISA STIGs and DoD security compliance standards.
•
Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and network layers.
• Bachelor's and 2 years, or relevant years of experience in lieu of degree.
Preferred:
•
AWS certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, or similar).
•
Experience in an R&D, defense, or simulation training environment.
•
Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
