The Enterprise Data Platforms team is responsible for fulfilling all data infrastructure needs of the PayPal site. This includes systems support, storage engineering, database, and site operations. What you'll be doing...

• L2/3 Systems & Storage Operations

• Systems administration support of Linux systems environments

• Storage administration support of storage environments

• Support server, storage, and database migration activities

• Root cause analysis for major incidents

• L2/3 triage and support of incidents 

• Support engineering or operational initiatives related to the team's support matrix

• Ensure all solutions and recommended solutions are consistent with IT standards and best practices

• Engineering initiatives that bring greater transparency and resiliency to PayPal core infrastructure

• 24/7 mission-critical support and deployment support during maintenance windows (we have a weekend on-call rotation)

• Ensure all solutions and recommended solutions are consistent with IT standards and best practices

• Systems and Storage infrastructure delivery

• Deploy and sustain back tier infrastructure and engineering standards

Position Prerequisite Skill Sets…

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other STEM disciplines

• Five years UNIX Systems and Storage administration experience within large 24/7 mission-critical enterprise environments

• Applied experience. You've built, broken, and rebuilt software and hardware.

• Experience with Linux Red Hat or Oracle distributions, and Solaris in a large enterprise setting

• Experience managing UNIX configuration management tools

• Experience and knowledge with network and Internet concepts, services, and protocols

• Understanding of incident management, problem management, release management, and change management concepts

• Knowledge of system performance monitoring

• SAN, NAS & storage array administration skills

• Systems log management and analysis skills

• Scripting skills (e.g. Shell, Perl, Python)

• Host-based data migration experience including host-level mirroring

• Experience troubleshooting technical problems

• Knowledge of storage area network concepts and fiber channel fundamentals

• Familiar with one or all of Python, Ansible, or Puppet

• Working knowledge of network protocols and be well versed in the IP stack.

• Working knowledge of web technologies (such as HTTP, HTML/DOM, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX)

• Foundational knowledge Object-Oriented Design Principles, Data Structures, Algorithms, SQL/NoSQL, Operating Systems, Software Engineering
