About the Role

At Citizen, the #1 safety app in the U.S., Talent Partnerships are critical to our success. We work and develop top local news and safety content creators (e.g.: Street People of Los Angeles) to capture viral, safety, and breaking news that keeps communities informed in real time. As the Talent Partnerships Manager, you'll be integral to our mission, working closely with the marketing team to grow the number safety content creator program, and forge impactful relationships with our existing creators who bring our platform and mission to life. 

Citizen’s Creator Program is already generating tens of millions of monthly views and we’re ready to rapidly add more top tier talent. Our goal is to to strategically select and work with local journalists, crime enthusiasts, and well-known city civic  influencers who have demonstrated an ability to gain trust in their respective communities. These individuals ensure our Citizen reporting remains unparalleled in the realm of live, safety-focused media.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for identifying, vetting, and onboarding content creator talent who align with Citizen's mission and brand values. You'll source talent, negotiate contracts, build relationships, develop original content concepts, and oversee the execution of these initiatives. Your experience in identifying and developing talent, coupled with a strategic approach to partnership building, will be invaluable in Citizen's growth in this role, placed on the marketing team and reporting to the Director of Product Marketing. You are a creative, innovative thinker with experience in guiding big ideas.

Your work will directly contribute to making Citizen and our creator talent known as the go-to source for live, breaking events, driven by our commitment to trust, transparency, and real-time community engagement. With content broadcasted live from the scene of safety incidents, your role is to ensure Citizen continues to stand out as the go-to platform for live, newsworthy content. Responsibilities

  • Identify, sign, and manage relationships with creator talent, aligning with our brand's mission and values. Negotiate and finalize partnership agreements, ensuring mutual benefits.
  • Determine whether creators have the “it” factor and develop strategies to grow Citizen’s Creator Program, ensuring a diverse and dynamic range of creator talent.
  • Serving as the primary contact for all talent, you will manage the onboarding of new creators, offering essential resources and support, and address concerns or feedback to ensure satisfaction and ongoing collaboration. This role may involve availability for late-night or early-morning problem-solving to support our creators who capture content around the clock.
  • Use data-driven insights to grow and improve the program, boosting talent engagement and effectiveness, and utilize performance metrics to inform strategic decisions.
  • Act as a liaison between the company and the talent community, fostering a positive and engaging environment.
  • Ensure partnerships and campaigns are successfully executed within budget and aligned with the marketing team initiatives and larger company goals. 
  • Build the future of breaking, live content: Create a movement that continues to position Citizen as the go-to for how people stay safe and informed. You can leverage campaigns (ambassador and referral programs, community outreach, content marketing, etc) to impact existing markets and build demand in new markets pre-launch.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience in talent partnerships, entertainment partnerships, influencer marketing, or similar roles, with an emphasis on leading/negotiating opportunities and building talent partnerships from scratch. A forward-thinking and strategic mindset are critical along with understanding the performance of talent.
  • You have experience working at a talent agency or similar organization strongly preferred, but not required.
  • You are a go-getter who can source, sign, and grow emerging talent. You have a vision for the future of media  breaking news, real-time information sharing, and live entertainment.
  • You have an eye for social and news trends. When you scroll online or watch TV and consume content, you have a gut instinct that tells you what is going to be widely shared.
  • You are expertly organized and comfortable with handling contracts while also being able to be personable and serve as a point person for our creators. You are a capable improviser: When news breaks and trends emerge, you will help the creators capitalize on the moment.
  • You’re a skilled communicator with a demonstrated ability to sell and build relationships across all levels.
  • You’re a self-starter and strong finisher: you take pride in developing a plan, executing it, and reporting on results.
  • You’re a mission-driven marketer and creative problem-solver. You are attracted to taking on big, complex problems.

Salary Range & Benefits

The below represents the expected salary range for this position in one of our three hubs: New York, NY, San Francisco CA, or Los Angeles CA. We take a number of factors into account when determining compensation including your location, experience, and other job-related factors.

Salary Range: $75,000-$85,000 annually + equity + benefits
