Description:
The Tax Analyst is responsible for a variety of critical tasks related to success of the Company’s tax function, which includes direct (income) and indirect (sales and use, property, excise) tax. This role will report to the Tax Leader, with dotted-line reporting to the Tax Supervisor, and have broad exposure to all areas of taxation, as well as visibility throughout many functions within the Company with outstanding opportunity for growth.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Prepare and collect information used in the preparation of federal and state income tax returns and quarterly income tax provisions.
- Calculate and process quarterly estimated payments and annual extensions.
- Assistance in reconciling and maintaining income, sales, and property tax general ledger accounts.
- Support team with calculating and reconciling fixed assets (tax-basis).
- Maintaining the organization’s tax compliance calendar for direct and indirect taxes and confirm all taxes are being filed/paid where required/applicable.
- Calculation and filing of periodic indirect tax returns (sales and use, excise).
- Fulfillment of various requests from outside consultant to file annual reports, personal property tax returns, and remittances of associated tax payments.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance-related discipline
- 0-2 years of professional experience, which can include college internships.
- Strong understanding of fundamental accounting principles.
- Ability to think critically, work accurately, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with competing priorities and due dates.
- Proactive self-starter.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Willingness to learn the fundamentals of the business and openness to grow into existing or different roles.
- Excellent computer skills, with strong working knowledge of Excel.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
- Openness to various automation solutions, including RPA (Robotic Process Automation) and AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology.
