In this role, you will be fully in the lead for shaping the future vision of tax data and technology at Adyen. You will redefine and drive our strategic direction ensuring alignment with the overall finance technology architecture and vision. Balancing both strategic and operational responsibilities, you will drive innovation and deliver impactful results.

The ideal candidate is someone who is curious, has vision, is a strategic thinker, a technology enthusiast, a  strong collaborator and not afraid to do the work yourself.

You would report to the Vice-President - Global Head of Tax, and be part of the centralized, Amsterdam-based tax team, which is made up of colleagues in Indirect Tax, Wage Tax, Tax Data & Technology, Tax Reporting, International Tax & Transfer Pricing and of various regions like the US and Latin America.

Also, you will work closely with the financial technology, billing and engineering team where you can benefit from like-minded peers who can challenge and spar with you.

What you'll do

• Iterate and evolve the vision for the future of tax data and technology at Adyen, ensuring it stays aligned with innovation while enhancing efficiency, compliance, and scalability
• Develop and refine the tax data and technology strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall finance technology architecture and vision
• Have a comprehensive understanding of the tax data & technology landscape, evaluating solutions and emerging trends
• Translate the vision and strategy into actionable steps and lead the implementation thereof
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, Product, Commercial, Billing) on various projects, like e-invoicing, and be able to simplify complex tax data & technology requirements for non-tax stakeholders
• Identify and drive innovation and efficiency in tax (compliance) processes e.g. indirect tax, corporate income tax and tax reporting 
• Implement and manage tax logic while onboarding new products to the tax engine (currently Vertex) 
• Monitor industry and (tax) data & technology developments, sharing insights to elevate the team’s capabilities

Who you are

• You love (tax) data and technology, have a good understanding of the landscape and use it to come up with solutions
• You’re a strategic process innovator who analyses and further redesigns our workflows and operations
• You have experience with indirect tax, a tax engine and understand the impact of this on our billing processes
• You’ve proven experience in automating (tax) processes
• You’re not afraid to think out-of-the box and are able to come up with creative solutions
• You have a mindset of constantly improving, automating and scaling
• You’re a go-getter, take ownership and are not afraid of doing the work yourself and go outside your comfort zone
• You thrive in a rapidly-changing environment
• In-house experience and/or tax engine (e.g. Vertex) and/or engineering experience is a plus
