ELA (English Language Arts) Teacher -Middle School Position: ELA (English Language Arts) Teacher - Middle School Reports to: Principal Classification: School Year Staff (11 months), Full Time, Exempt Salary Range: $65,600+ (emergency permit/intern credential) $69,600 - $93,018 (prelim/clear credential) $5,000 signing bonus Location: ACE Charter School Position Summary: We are looking for exceptional educators to join our team! You are insatiably curious about how to motivate students to engage in learning through community building and rigorous, standards-aligned instruction. You integrate strategies for English Learners and students with disabilities seamlessly into your lessons. Above all, you are a patient optimist - you believe that every student is capable of graduating from college. This role reports to the school principal. Responsibilities: • Maintain the unwavering belief in the extraordinary potential of every student. • Maintain a growth mindset with all stakeholders. • Build authentic relationships with students by serving as a mentor; consistently reinforce the belief that all students have the capacity to be successful through college. • Build authentic relationships with families through school events, phone calls and conferences. • Commit to equitable teaching and learning opportunities for all students with dedication to the success of students, their families, and the community. • Create a learning environment where students have ample opportunity to develop resilience, personal agency, and a commitment to their learning and their future. • Design and implement learning lesson plans. • Facilitate students’ mastery of academic standards through long-term planning, daily and weekly lesson plans, and execution of rigorous and engaging daily instruction. • Collaborate with ACE Learning Specialists to support a full-inclusion model of Special Education to the greatest extent possible. • Create a warm yet firm classroom culture through consistent implementation of behavior ladders. • Celebrate student growth, as well as proficiency. • Consistently integrate coaching feedback. • Communicate effectively and respectfully with all stakeholders. • Approach professional development (training, observations, coaching and feedback) with commitment and reflection. Education & Experience Education • Bachelor’s Degree required • Valid California Single Subject or Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in Subject Area is required • English Learner (EL) Authorization Certificate • Applicants without credentials or an EL designation, as well as those who are eligible or currently enrolled in a CTC-approved program, will also be considered if they show proof of qualifying for an Intern Teaching Credential or eligibility for an emergency teaching permit. • To see if your degree would qualify you for an emergency permit you can refer here: Appropriate Degrees to Satisfy Subject Matter Competence • If your degree is not acceptable, you can send include a copy of your transcripts with your application for coursework review. • Valid CPR Certification is required • Satisfactory completion of Basic Skills Requirement and demonstration of Subject Matter Proficiency • Read here for information on ways to meet the BSR requirement. • Read here for information on ways to meet the SMC requirement.
