Job Description
Under the general direction of the Campus Supervisor, the Teacher is expected to collaborate with the teaching team and other staff. This position seeks a candidate to be creative, inclusive, professional, and understand how to work with children in a developmentally appropriate manner and follows CCA’s mission and philosophy.
Below is a summary of job duties and responsibilities; a full job description may be provided upon request and/or at time of interview if applicable.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Leading and/or sharing responsibility for the planning, organizing and implementing the care, development and education of typically and atypically developing infants & toddlers.
• Supervising and modeling interaction with children in a warm, caring and positive manner; interacts at child’s eye level on a one-to-one basis while engaging with the children and being a resource person for their developmental activities.
• Ensuring classroom activities comply with CCA policies and procedures, the CA Department of Education and CA Department of Social Services– child development program regulations, Title 5, and Title 22 Community Care Licensing regulations.
• Build authentic partnerships with families informally and formally.
• Must have organizational skills to complete developmental profiles, i.e.: DRDPs, ASQs, observations and portfolios; conducting subsequent family conferences and overseeing the completion of these by their teacher assistants.
• Maintains daily records of child’s attendance, sleeping and eating, diapering, health and behavior.
• Attends and participates in all staff meetings and in-service training.
• Follows agency policies and procedures at all times including health, safety and nutrition; incorporates CCA’s philosophy and mission in all aspects of the program.
• Maintains working knowledge of current practices in the early childhood education and pursues professional growth within the field.
• Establish clear communication with families in regards to their child’s development and develop/ sustain a sense of belonging for families.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this job.
• Must hold a valid Associate Teacher permit or higher, issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC)
• For Infant Teacher positions, candidate must have satisfactorily completed (grade C or better) 3 units of child development in an infant course.
• Working knowledge of early childhood programs, standards, ECE Competencies, and must have teaching experience in an ECE classroom.
• Working knowledge of the foundation of developmental and education standards for children (ages birth to five) with emphasis on infants.
• Solid English and Spanish language skills including effective oral communication skills, ability to read and comprehend instructions/ correspondence and the ability to write correspondence coherently.
• Must have a working knowledge of computer programs (Word, Excel, Publisher, Canva), the internet, email and record keeping applications.
• Experience with children and families from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds and ability to be sensitive to the different cultures represented in the community.
• A warm, caring, friendly, positive personality who enjoys helping children to grow and supporting partnerships with families while creating a team environment.
• Proof of recent tuberculosis test and must submit updated testing/results as per agency internal requirements.
• Proof of adult mandatory vaccinations: influenza (annual requirement) and/or waiver, Tdap (booster every 10 years) &/or proof of immunity provided by physician AND measles vaccination and/or proof of immunity provided by physician.
• Submit pre-employment health screening report upon hiring and as per agency internal requirements.
• Fingerprint clearance on DOJ, FBI and CA thru Community Care Licensing.
Hourly Rate is based the type of Teacher permit you hold and the number of child development units as per internal requirements.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.32 - $26.77 per hour
