Job Description

The Teacher/ Youth Leader assists with the implementation of the licensed Extended Day, before and after school programs, on a public-school site within the San Diego Unified School District. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Actively participates in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities including any or all of the following: physical fitness, organized sports, academic projects, fine arts, and practical arts • Assists Site Supervisor in planning and implementing program curriculum • Participate in the development of age-appropriate weekly activity plans in accordance with program guidelines • Prepare and provide daily snacks for children • Perform daily attendance and sign in and out procedures as assigned • Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations • Maintain open communication with parents and school staff • Familiar with Child Protective Services reporting responsibilities • Accurately represent the agency to and maintain positive working relationships with the public, clients, funding sources, government bodies, etc. • Occasionally substitute at other sites • Other tasks as assigned by the Site Supervisor QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience and Certifications) • A minimum of 6 months experience in the supervision and management of groups of children ages 5-14. • A minimum of 12 college units inEarly Childhood Education, Child Development or related fields ( Psychology, Sociology, Education) • Favorable pre-employment TB test and health screening required. • Favorable pre-employment DOJ/FBI fingerprinting clearance and child abuse index processing required. • Obtain Adult, Child, and Infant CPR and First aid certificate within 30 days of employment • Immunization Records (influenza, pertussis and measles) must be provided before first day of employment. • Access to reliable transportation required HOW TO APPLY Please visit http://bit.ly/SAYApply, which is our SAY Career Center, to create a profile and submit your application online for 'Teacher'. If not, do you have 48 completed college units? • Our typical schedule for our After School programs is 1:30 to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday, with one day starting around 12:00 pm (Minimum Day Schedule).
