THE OPPORTUNITY:
Our client, a multinational media organization undergoing a significant accounting standards implementation, is seeking an Interim Technical Accounting Consultant to join its project team during a critical phase of IFRS adoption. The focus of this phase involves enhancements to forecasting, budgeting, financial disclosures, and changes to the chart of accounts aligned with new global reporting standards.
This consultant will act as a subject matter expert, working closely with finance, technical, and operational stakeholders to interpret accounting guidance, refine internal controls, and support compliance with both internal and external reporting mandates. This position is hybrid and based out of the client’s Los Angeles office.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Serve as the primary technical accounting liaison within the IFRS implementation project team.
• Interpret and apply new international accounting standards and corporate policy requirements.
• Engage in cross-functional collaboration with divisional finance groups, corporate accounting, and other business units to identify and remediate process gaps.
• Participate in sprint-based agile project cycles including stand-ups, retrospectives, and demos.
• Draft technical accounting memos and internal documentation for leadership and audit review.
• Align updated financial processes with system requirements, policy changes, and control protocols.
• Provide training and knowledge-sharing sessions for finance personnel on the new standards and policy impacts.
• Track issues, document decisions, and maintain project-related controls and deliverables.
• Contribute to testing, reconciliation, and validation of new financial reporting workflows and systems.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics.
• CPA (or equivalent certification) preferred but not mandatory.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in technical accounting, financial reporting, or accounting policy.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and experience with new standard implementation highly desirable.
• Experience drafting accounting memoranda and supporting audit documentation.
• Excellent communication skills, including meeting facilitation, documentation, and stakeholder updates.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple workstreams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel (pivot tables, formulas, charts), PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
• Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodology and financial systems such as SAP, BW, or S/4 HANA is a plus.
• Prior experience in the media or entertainment sector is a bonus but not required.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $70.00 - $90.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
