About Us:

Lumencor, Inc., based in Beaverton, Oregon, manufactures high-performance solid state lighting subsystems, "light engines," for bioanalytical instruments, medical devices, life science research tools and industrial applications like wafer defect inspection devices, quality control, and metrology. Products are sold worldwide to equipment manufacturers (OEMs), distributors, laboratories, individual researchers and industrial leaders.

Using their educational or previous employment background in biological science, the Technical Communications Specialist supports Lumencor’s sales and marketing organization by generating written and graphical content for use in the company’s technical and marketing publications. To acquire and maintain the knowledge base required to inform the generation of written and graphical content, the Technical Communications Specialist will have a customer-facing role in the Technical Support team, responding to product support requests during and after the sales process.

Responsibilities:
  • Acquire, maintain and disseminate working knowledge of the full Lumencor product portfolio and their applications.
  • Work with Product Support Engineer to respond promptly to technical questions submitted by customers or Lumencor sales personnel. Technical questions are submitted by phone, e-mail or website chat interface.
  • Provide draft written materials, with supporting graphics, to Lumencor marketing team. Project definition and prioritization to be determined at the weekly Technical Marketing Meetings.
  • Generate support documentation for installation and operation of Lumencor products.
  • Research external sources for content. External sources include scientific research publications and Lumencor customers.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations that explain products or services to new employees, customers and prospective customers.

Requirements:
  • Minimum BS degree with bioscience (e.g., biology, chemistry, biochemistry, biomedical engineering) major from an accredited college or university.
  • Technical writing skills supported by submitted writing samples.
  • 2+ years of technical support experience preferably supporting biological microscopy and bioanalysis applications. This requirement may be waived for suitably qualified new graduates.
  • A work history and verifiable record of problem solving and working independently.
  • Familiarity with customer-facing processes for ordering, shipping, returning and servicing of products.
Preferred Education Training and Experience:
  • MS Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, applications of light microscopy
