We are seeking an experienced and visionary Technical Director to lead the development of our gaming platform Seedworld using Unreal Engine 5, with a focus on Unreal 5 technology with Web 3 integration.
With Unreal Engine & multiplayer open world games tech expertise, you analyze, recommend and select the best technical directions in order to maximize cost & schedule efficiency, balancing short-term priorities with long term-goals.
Responsibilities:
Provide strategic technical leadership and direction for the development of the gaming platform. Make key technical decisions that align with business goals and project requirements.
Develop and maintain a technical roadmap that outlines the steps needed to achieve short-term and long-term project goals, ensuring that the team stays on track and meets milestones.
Foster collaboration between the engineering team and other departments such as art, design, and business, ensuring that all technical solutions support the creative and business objectives of the studio.
Identify potential technical risks and create mitigation strategies to address them before they impact the project timeline or quality.
Encourage and lead the exploration of new technologies and methodologies that can enhance the studio’s capabilities, staying ahead of industry trends.
Work closely with the QA team to ensure that technical solutions meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.
Provide mentorship to senior engineers, fostering a culture of growth and continuous improvement within the team.
Oversee the technical budget, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and that the project stays within financial constraints.
Act as the primary technical point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, providing clear and concise updates on the project’s technical progress.
Requirements:
Minimum of 8 years of experience in game development, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership role. Extensive experience with Unreal Engine 5 is essential.
Extensive hands-on experience in leading AAA game development projects, with a proven track record of successfully delivering published AAA titles;
Proficiency in C++, Blueprints, and Unreal Engine development. Strong understanding of front-end technologies (e.g., HTML5, CSS, JavaScript) and back-end technologies (e.g., RESTful APIs, database design, server-side programming).
Solid experience in multiple aspects of game technology development (gameplay, UI & UX, 3D, network, tools, animation)
Strong understanding of software development processes with respect to networked applications, blockchain and integration of the two
Mastery of common software development tools like bug tracking software (e.g. Jira) & version management systems (e.g. Perforce)
