As a Technical Manager of Data Engineering you will lead and manage data-centric projects to deliver impactful business outcomes. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to drive cross-functional teams. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing complex data engineering initiatives, ensuring they align with business objectives and deliver value.
Required Skills & Experience
• Minimum of 10+ years in an end-to-end cloud data engineering projects, including data governance, data lakes, data applications on cloud platforms, visualizations, advanced analytics/machine learning, and data warehousing
• Strong skills in Snowflake, Azure Databricks, Airflow & other Azure Cloud Services
• Strong understanding of Generative AI & other LLM driven data apps
• Strong business-facing communication skills, especially with senior stakeholders.
• Excellent people management skills and a track record of managing large and complex engagements.
• Knowledge of change management methodologies and tools.
• Ability to produce high-quality deliverables that meet client needs.
• Experience in conducting design meetings and developing Level of Effort estimates.
• Creative thinking and innovative problem-solving skills.
• Ability to establish credibility with clients, build consensus, and achieve goals through influence.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and people management skills.
• Experience with third-party developers and vendors.
• Proficiency in using scrum/agile practices with multiple vendor integrations.
• Strong understanding of organizational goals and objectives.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Keen attention to detail and experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Knowledge of data privacy practices and laws.
• Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends to meet deadlines.
• Preferred qualifications include certifications in Snowflake, Azure, Airflow & other data technologies
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Lead and manage cross-functional delivery teams on data engineering projects.
• Develop and maintain integrated technology solution architectures and roadmaps
• Work with the project management and product management teams to track key milestones and deliverables.
• Guide and coach the development team on best practices to achieve rapid development of data solutions.
• Coordinate feature delivery and production releases in collaboration with the product owner.
• Actively manage the development activities, including solution design, code reviews, code deployments
• Participate & engage in delivery activities including sprint planning, demos, retrospectives, and standups.
• Resolve impediments and issues, removing delays and distractions to ensure project progress.
• Track sprint progress and strive to increase velocity and accuracy of sprint planning.
• Perform hands-on project work, including analysis, design, process engineering, and change management.
• Collaborate with business partners to enable iterative cycles of data gathering, visualization building, and optimization.
• Identify opportunities for improvements and recommend them to key stakeholders.
• Deliver regular updates to program leadership on project status.
• Conduct regular stand-up and status meetings with stakeholders.
• Represent the Data & Analytics IT team in multi-functional teams, possessing detailed knowledge of technical aspects and broader business objectives.
• Manage standard project management processes, including scope, budget, schedule, risks, communication, and change.
• Oversee the budget of the cloud data warehouse program and manage vendor contracts.
• Coordinate work across multiple business and IT teams.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $130,000.00 per year
