IBM zArchitects are leaders in defining and architecting end-to-end solutions that include the IBM Z platform. During construction the zArchitect is the advocate for the client and guides the technical team. They define the structures of solutions and architectures to address client business strategy and problems; understand client needs and business constraints and leverage business elements and IT to address those needs. They also ensure viability of the proposed solution and then identify and mitigate potential risks to the success of the project. IBM zArchitects excel at identifying opportunities consulting on major client challenges visions and strategies and providing a point of view on how IBM Z & IBM strategic initiatives can address business objectives
- Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with z/OS IBM Z mainframe hardware z/OS software connectivity storage solutions and distributed systems integration.
- Experience architecting plans for IBM z/OS version upgrades for existing and new IBM Z hardware implementation services including product migration services for both IBM and third-party ISV software related products.
- Understand technical requirements to craft work scopes work breakdown structures labor estimates and manage risk.
- Demonstrated communication skills in a customer facing environment at all levels of technical management and executives
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken) for effective communication with global teams and clients.
- Experience with performance tuning monitoring and capacity planning for enterprise systems.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices observability tools and modern deployment technologies such as containers and OpenShift.
- Knowledge of z/OS ISVs Linux on IBM Z and advanced security and networking concepts.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements in a fast-paced innovative environment.
- Experience with any of the IBM Software portfolio considered a plus.
- Experience in IBM Z Modernization strategies and tools.
