TECHNICAL TRAINER (STARSHIP)
A Technical Trainer is driven by the fundamental belief that education and knowledge are power. A SpaceX Technical Trainer combines that belief with a strong sense of urgency, creativity, resourcefulness, and jumps at the opportunity to create hands-on learning projects that deliver results. The ideal candidate brings applicable industry experience, strong communication skills, innovative problem-solving abilities, and a passion for contributing to the advancement of human space exploration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create course materials using educational tools: PowerPoint, student handouts, exams, study materials, and instructor-led student assessmentsÂ
- Own, create, and edit training Engineering Masters (EMs) for relevant training coursesÂ
- Partner directly with subject matter experts to design and develop engaging content for a variety of audiences and delivery modes (online, classroom, etc.) with clear strategies and tactics to achieve desired learning outcomes, including but not limited to: Safety cable/wire, fastener installation, high-pressure systems, WARP software trainingÂ
- Lead training modules (classroom and online) for Production & Engineering teams on a variety of technical topicsÂ
- Assess and evaluate student performance through practical tests, projects, and written exams   Â
- Organize, schedule, and manage enrollments, attendance, and student performance
- Develop process specifications and research on new technologiesÂ
- Perform special assignments. (e.g. leading vehicle or process modifications in the field)Â
- Engage Production Management, Engineering, Quality and other subject matter experts to gather feedback and implement process improvements for future training modulesÂ
- Coordinate with third party vendors for specialized resources and instructionÂ
 BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificateÂ
- 3+ years of experience as a technical/on-the-job trainer, conducting hands-on, instructor-led technical coursesÂ
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Â
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or educationÂ
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in aerospace or vehicle manufacturingÂ
- FAA certified Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) mechanicÂ
- Proficiency with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) softwareÂ
- Ability to independently analyze, review, and research manufacturing processes and applicable standardsÂ
- Ability to demonstrate an in depth understanding of production manufacturing processes (e.g. drilling, riveting, component assembly, pressure testing, machine operation)Â
- Excellent oral and written training and communication skillsÂ
- Proficiency with the development of training programs and materials, including student assessmentsÂ
- Experience with video editing and online training module developmentÂ
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated experience as a team-oriented self-starter, eager to meet and exceed objectives with the ability to handle a multi-project environmentÂ
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawingsÂ

- Must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends to meet critical deadlines if neededÂ
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Â
Pay range: Â Â
Technical Trainer/Level I: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00/per year  Â
Technical Trainer/Level II: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation & will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Exempt employees are eligible for 5 days of sick leave per year.
