Summary
The incumbent serves as a Technical Publications Writer performing a variety of writing and editing duties in support of the Aircraft Certification Service (AIR).

Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the FV-G band level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-F, FG/GS9/10 grade level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
Specialized experience includes:
- Experience writing, revising, or editing technical publications or manuals- proficient in MS Office Suite (especially Word); And
- Experience creating technical instructions or descriptions in a clear and logical manner so it is understandable to non-technical audiences, using various types of source data (manuals, maintenance instructions, tables, flowcharts, or interviews with subject matter experts); And
- Experience with managing projects and meeting metrics for project completion.
To qualify for this position at the FV-H band level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-G, FG/GS10/11 grade level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
Specialized experience includes:
- Experience writing or editing complex technical publications or manuals- proficient in MS Office Suite (especially Word); And
- Experience with managing projects and meeting metrics for project completion; And
- Experience editing complex technical material drafted by others; And
- Experience proactively escalating project issues and roadblocks to ensure they are addressed in a timely manner.

Education
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Must have included a total of 15 semester hours in an appropriate scientific, technical, or social science field(s), and at least one course above introductory level in the field(s) covered by the position. For technical manuals and specifications writers or editors, the equivalent of 15 semester hours may have been gained through vocational or educational training above the high school level at a public, private, or Armed Forces school.
Education substitution for the G Band: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education may be combined with experience to meet the one year required specialized experience.

Duty location negotiable: Selectee will be required to report to an FAA Duty Location which will be
discussed at selection. This is not a remote position.
The position may be filled at the G or H band. However, this does not constitute a commitment or an obligation on the part of management to promote the employee selected at some future date. Promotion will depend upon the selectee meeting training, qualification requirements, and recommendation by the supervisor.
Interview: If the Agency decides to interview any qualified employee on the selection list, then all on the list who are qualified must be interviewed. If the selection list is shortened to a best qualified list through a comparative process, then the best qualified list shall be considered to be the selection list.
