Job Description

Double Fine is looking for a full-time Tools Programmer for its San Francisco-based development studio. The ideal candidate will be a key contributor in our cross project tools and studio pipeline team that focuses on building internal software for game development. You will collaborate with multiple disciplines including Art, Animation, Audio, Design, and Programming to identify, design, and implement effective and usable tools that accelerate the productivity and creativity of our game teams. This includes building the exporters, importers, and other essential glue between third party applications, our game engine, and communication tools.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate experience building game development tools software and plugins.
  • Knowledge of game development content workflows, bottlenecks, and best practices.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Technical familiarity with a wide range of modern 3rd party tools and applications used in game development.
  • Passion for intuitive and user-friendly UI/UX design implementation.
  • Familiarity with game build pipeline, packaging, file distribution, asset migration, and source control.

  • Have a strong preference for working in a highly creative, innovative, and nimble development environment, where collaborating with and supporting design, audio, art, animation, tech, and other disciplines is standard.
  • Experience working with small to medium-sized teams with shared pipelines and toolchains.
  • Innovative problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Team-focused effective communicator.
  • Knowledge/proficiency in:
    • C#/C++
    • Unreal Engine 4 or 5
    • Python
    • Visual Studio
    • Perforce
    • Tool APIs (SQL, WWise/WAAPI, Webhook APIs)
    • Artist Software (Maya, Substance Designer, Blender, Illustrator, Zbrush,Photoshop)
  • Ability to work onsite at our San Francisco studio.

Expected salary range: $110,000 - $140,000
