Your Role and Responsibilities
The professional will support the IBM global trade and market access function by advancing public policy issues that affect IBM’s ability to operate effectively in the globally integrated economy. Their responsibilities will include policy development and advocacy covering a broad range of issues in international trade policy market access service delivery and global supply chain operations. In addition the professional will support Government & Regulatory Affairs geographic leads to resolve specific market access barriers that impact IBM’s ability to compete and do business.
The professional will also represent IBM at U.S.-based trade and business associations. These associations lobby on behalf of the business community including with the Executive Branch the Congress and with foreign governments. The professional will help coordinate IBM engagement with these organizations and help advance the company’s trade and policy priorities.
Finally the position will support the corporate Enterprise Risk and Security functions. In that role the candidate will help gather interpret and synthesize market intelligence related to geopolitical trade regulatory and tax risk in global markets.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
B.A. required M.A. preferred with a degree related to international relations and/or international business. Although this is an early professional role internships or other work experience with a multinational company and/or international business and risk advisory firm is recommended.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
The candidate should have strong communications and writing skills. The role requires the ability to distill complex and disparate information in understandable succinct formats for senior executives. The candidate should be able to articulate and communicate IBM policy priorities in front of government officials trade and business associations and other external partners.
